You haven't been here long enough in that case. It was the done thing at one point.

If you add or take away the s in post/posts, different results come up. Lots of posts disappeared after the forum change/upgrade. It was a regular thing that people enjoyed. If you notice the dates of the posts, which you can click on and read... they were all back in the day. It was a tradition.

What year was it the forum got changed? I can't remember...

I may be wrong but I don't think reactions were counted in the early years. Therefore, long term members' post/réaction ratios cannot be compared with those of newer members.

For what it's worth, since joining in 2005, my 3490 posts provoked 2349 reactions or about 67%
They weren't. The forum had a major upgrade/change a few? (cant remember when it was... decade maybe or more?) years ago. The like button didn't exist before that. I took a hiatus for a time around the time of the upgrade.

4000 posts?

I’m not even a real bushcrafter!

I don’t know enough for 4000 posts - but thinking about it that has never stopped me from writing about anything. :)

May I use #4001 just to say a big Thank You to all here who let me tag along.

Pat.
Come back when you break the barrier of 9000.

:finger: Great way to admit you know nothing, without admitting you know nothing. It works for all involved...Take cover... Incoming...! :ar15::blueteame:

No worries :) I’m not about to shoot back.

I’m happy to be who I am.
You just happen to have touched upon something that I find deeply fascinating.

I would dearly love to say that I know nothing. It is one of the goals of science as well as of some philosophical schools. Truly to know nothing is to understand everything but I doubt that it is possible within my lifetime. I’m working on it.

Of course David Hume declared that we cannot know anything and it is arguable that Aristotle was the last person (of whom we are aware) who knew everything which condemns the rest of humanity to know nothing about something.
I take consolation in that I know something about nothing.

If the subject interests you then I recommend the following as a 101.

NOTHING

NOTHING
Thing with nothing is... In order for nothing, to create everything... there has to be 2 nothings. Which makes nothing... somethings.. and somethings create everything's... question is, what do everything's create? I'm gonna go with nothings...which create somethings, which create everything's... Ad infinitum. :encourage:

That looks exactly like my coffee mat.

Indeed, Something and Nothing are coinciding points on a circle of existence.

Something and Nothing can also be viewed like the skins of an onion.

Depending on your metaphysics:

Did everything generate nothing - as in an omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent deity with the ability to destroy its creation?

Or did nothing generate everything as in some sort of sub-singularity generating the universe.

Whichever option you go for immediately demands another skin; as you say, ”ad infintum” (for now!)

One of the more interesting chapters of the book I recommended is the mathematical derivation of one from zero unity from nothing. (Adjectives are not things).

There was a thread on here...maybe 15/16 years ago... Titled "Fear of the Dark".

Had to do some searching.... But here it is....

I came into it at post 145 (page 8) where I was discussing something with other members, which a lot of, has been proven true by science, many years after this discussion. Its almost a book in itself lol. A lot of what i was saying is what that book is saying. Only they released the book 4 or 5 years after that thread.

The NS book is looking at dozens of aspects of Nothing.
Placebo / Nocebo
Pre big bang
Mathematics of nothing

All sorts of different aspects.
Well worth a look.
