30 minuet ferro conversion

Being bored today and needing to try and use the new tiny shed workshop(I miss the last houses garage:()

I decided to make use of a bit of kit that just doesnt get used, SO! the ingredients are,

1 Ultimate survival blast match

1 head ornament from a reindeer

2 part epoxy

saw

bit and brace

Danish oil

and some sand paper

Take you blast match,

Release the rod,

Give it a wiggle and remove from the carrier,

Chip off the plastic cap,

Select and cut your piece of antler, drill holes top and bottom, mix the epoxy, and seat the rod into the antler, then seat the metal quick release base into the other, and leave to dry,

Once dry,

sand and shape to your fit,

This is now off for a stay in some sweet Danish oil!

A definite improvement. I have a few of those around here, mostly stashed in vehicles and BOBs. I never carry one but I'd be much more likely to carry one like this. Great idea!

Haha! cheers chaps, yeah same here Hoodoo, I was for some reason given a few a couple of years back, but never use them or gave most away, just be warned!! my word does it throw once you've scraped a flat!!! I am under orders to make a new chopping board now due to badly peppering the current one:rolleyes::D

When using 2 part epoxy, once it sets it does not lend itself to be reused.

Instead of 2 part epoxy try hot glue as when the ferro rod breaks or gets too small heat it up with a hair dryer and then remove the too small to be used ferro rod from the beautiful bit of antler and replace the the ferro rod for a new length.

I bolt mine in now so i can replace it when its run out ;)
