Just got my old ridge tent out of the loft to see if it was ok after being stored for many years, checked it all over and well lets say it's not in the best of condition.

Been looking at the web at 2-3 man dome tents, have found a couple and just wanted to see if anyone had any experience of the below in particular

http://www.campingandcamo.co.uk/ishop/975/shopscr1137.html

Is a good buy or a bad buy, not looking to spend more than 50 squid, and ideally i would like one in OG, has anyone got experience of other 2-3 man tents they could share?

On the same lines as some of my other posts, this is tent is required for when i take my nephew out in 10 days time, i would normally use tarp & hammock if on my own.

Have a look at Argos
http://www.argos.co.uk
they're selling tents cheaply just now, 2/3man for £30 and a four man tent for £40....if it's only for the sort of use you've mentioned it should do fine, and if your nephew wants to sleep out in the garden for the rest of the Summer and the tent gets exhausted it's hardly been expensive. The wee boy next door has had his up for weeks now and it's still fine, his mum reckons it's the best £30 she's spent on him for years.

Cheers,

Me and my old mate have got one from Halfords (just in case we need to use an official campsite) nice and cheap lets hope we dont have to use it as we have been dossing down in improvised shelters for the last 30 years. We got one as one is supposed to be more respectable as one gets older

I'd say this was a much better bet
http://www.cccoutdoors.com/products.asp?partno=8219

It's made by Vango who I have always found make good tents (apart from the discovery). It also has a 2000mm HH waterproof rating instead of the 1000mm HH that the other one has. The poles go through much longer loops reducing the stress on the fabric. The size and height is identincal to the one you listed.

for less money you could have
http://www.cccoutdoors.com/products.asp?partno=42775
again it has a better waterproof rating, it's a bit bigger. It's not a make I know of but I'm sure the shop would give you great customer service

One thing I noticed about these tents is they way as much as a vango force ten Mark VI. I tent which is always though of as ultra heavy weight

Thanks for the advice guys, much appreciated, eventually settled on the Eden two man from Millets in the end, http://www.millets.co.uk/Millets.storefront/EN/Product/09357145, fairly cheap, got an HH of 1500 which will be fine (i hope) as i doubt tiddler will want to go in the depths of winter, it's only going to be used when i take my nephew out after all, i will carry on using my tarp & hammock when im on my todd.

Got a good deal from Millets as well, called their order line and got a 10% discount, as well as a free upgrade to priority delivery, even with the delivery charge it came out less than the price they advertise on their site. :)

I'm sorry if you bought it on my recommendation :( Seriously though the one next door is still, has been used constantly all summer and hasn't let in yet. The lawn is dead though
