As the title says... I have an old 3 C cell maglite and was wondering if there are any LED conversions about? The battery life on it is rubbish and hopefully an led conversion should extend that a bit. I actually like the size of the C cell mag due the the other use....chib....;) just in case ye understand.

Cheers, Davie

There certainly is, I've had mine for years.
Can't currently recall where I got the replacement lamp but it was a "one out, one in" job to do the conversion with no other parts necessary.

Not a huge amount of help, but I'll try for some more info tomorrow.

No connection with either company or store, but here's some possibilities.

I just purchased two Terralux TLE-1F (MiniStar 1) LED bulbs for my 2-D cell flashlights and am well pleased with the 1-watt output in warm white.

You can pick up niteize(is that the spelling?) conversion at a Cotswolds Outdoors shop, and Maglite also do a conversion - I bought one for my 4-c. Works beautifully:D It was I think from Maglite uk - but I can't now recall the website.

If $65 is a bit much

try: http://www.led-replacement.com/tle-6exb.html

However... these tend to be a bit underwhelming, although better than the niteize.

The main issue is the heatsinking. There is no mass to draw away the heat from the LED, so performance and lifespan is severely limited. You'll note the malkoff has a large heatsink to protect the LED. They will run for ages on a set of batteries though.
