D-rings - What do you have on yours?

I've got D-rings all over the place; on some belt loops, in jacket pockets, on my shoulder bag, etc. They all arrived with the bought items but I never use them. What about you?

Scrapple For Breakfast - My First Attempt

It seems that there are more recipes for scrapple than there are parts of a hog. A quick google will take you to one that takes your fancy I'm sure. Having just had a go at making (and eating) my first scrapple I'm sure you won't be disappointed if you give it a go. I've a feeling there will be...

Is it a moss, a grass, a plant, or what?

Found amongst a mossy grass area. Edge of moorland in Yorkshire. Leaves are dark green on top, soft, papery, white underside with soft hairs. Can't look it up in one of my books until I have an idea of what it might be. Any ideas welcome. Cheers.

Making Nets. What twine and where to buy?

I'm getting ready to start having a go at net making. I've watched some videos and bought a book, got me some needles and mesh bits, but I'm unsure about what twines to get. My aim (eventually) is to make small carry bags and pouches, but I'm looking to start with non-complicated square nets...

    Draw knife info please.

I think 'draw knife' is the correct name; handle either end with blade in the middle? For stripping bark off logs and branches, etc. Ideas on best make, best price, or good alternatives most welcome. Possible daft question: Is there such a thing as a folding draw knife? Cheers, y'all.

    Knot Names.

I've recently learnt that a Bowline knot is pronounced Bow-lin, not Bow-line. Does this mean that a Buntline is pronounced Buntlin and a Tautline is pronouced Tautlin ? Is there anything else I should know that can save me sounding like a Knot moron? :tapedshut

    My First Spoon.

Not perfect, but not too bad methinks. Messed up with a couple of knife strokes so had to 're-adjust' my design, hence the unusual shape. Great fun, great learning experience, and yes I'm addicted already. Used a piece of soft pine for this first effort. Baked in walnut oil as...

    'Horizontal' knife sheath.

Hi All. I've seen a couple of people (on video) wearing their knife and sheath across their belly, ie., in a horizontal fashion. Can anyone tell me how this works? Can anyone point me towards a bushcraft knife set-up like this? Ta Muchly.

Bow Drill - Catching The Coal.

Apologies if this is one of those 'daft' questions, but if you don't ask you don't find out. If I have a go at the bow-drill method, what's the reason for catching the coal on a bit of bark (dry leaf, whatever) rather than straight onto a tinder bundle? Cheers,

From Up In't Hills O' Tod...

Hi All. I've been dipping into the site for a few months now, picking up hints and tips, so I thought it was time to join up and say 'hello'. This is a great site you have here, especially for someone like myself who enjoys learning as well as doing. Cheers.
