Hi all im going away tomorrow to abersoch in wales which should be good. Iv not had a chance to get out and about in a bushcrafty sort of way ( im a begginner well spectator lol). But with miles of countryside i thought it might be good to get out and do.. well something lol so any suggestions...
lol same books im on mate. Finished essential bushcraft and read it through a few times very very good and half way through lofty's aslo very good. Its good cos ive found they have different but both valid oppinions so it doesnt feel like youre going over the same thing, tho loftys is geared...

Ah i c cheers ill have a look i did a search for born to survive couldnt get anything. Well im no expert but put it this way ray mears was on at the same time and it was an episode id seen and i still wish id watched it lol. Didnt want to judge tho with my no experience

I posted similar question bout an opinel knife (smaller scale) general advice was wd40 and something to scrub with eg one of those abrasive green washing up sponge. As for sharpening i only know wats been put on the threads. Someones got better advice probs : :o
Thats what i meant by clarifying the subjject , although i wouldnt not drink in a true survival situation through fear of parasites i can see someone not drinking because of taking to heart one piece of information, specially like kids tend to do when they think there doing the right thing. Obv...

As much as i know from books ect. Ray mears general idea in essential bushcraft is to boil everything, however iv just started reading john lofty wiseman's sas guide and he only talks about boiling and purifying in certain circumstances like very slow flowing streams whereas he seems to indicate...
Iv just found my old fishing knife well happy its still pretty sharp. However its pretty rusty well its got specks of dark brown to black all over the blade and not as sharp as it could be. Can any one tell me is it possible to clean it up shiny and new ? Me grandad always says waste not want...
Brilliant, wel i was thinkin wen i do get out about getting the saw too then anything im remotly not confident about with an axe use the saw then over time probably be using it less and less and the axe more, once again thnx

When i finally get out into the field as a beginner and a novice to knives ill be goin for the mora. I was looking at the best knifes for hundreds of pounds the woodlore included but once i saw what people think about the mora and the fact that for the price of those expensive knives i could get...
As a newbie to bushcraft and a non driver and at the moment unemployed and straped for cash and living about 15 minutes from delamere i think you can guess i would be in great favour of this :cool:
Also reflecting on the otherside of the idea as well, you never know if it was instilled you might get all sorts of t*ssers on the course just to get the liscense and as was said before dont actually have the instilled respect for nature within them but just want to take there tents anywhere...
