    Iisakki: Jarvenpaa Aito Puukko

Still loving it, haven't gotten to do much other than daily utility type tasks around the flat, but it has been quite handy.

    Iisakki: Jarvenpaa Aito Puukko

Got my Aito today, fantastic little knife, but dreadful sheath. Overall still a worthwhile purchase, as the sheath is easily replaced. The feel of the handle is superb and overall finish is good, not perfect, but certainly acceptable for a rustic work knife of good quality, which is what I...

    Which cheap small fixed blade?

Mora 840/860 is a good choice. For something nicer within your budget, look into Marttiini knives, their basic puuko style knives are very good for what you pay. I would stay away from skeletonized "neck knives" with no scales, they are extremely uncomfortable for any prolonged use.

    Iisakki: Jarvenpaa Aito Puukko

I just bought one of these, waiting for it to arrive. Same as Wayland, I loved the look of the handle and the shorter blade.

    ESEE Izula Question

Congrats mate, I love my green Izula.

    ESEE 5 knife

Yes, the ESEE-6 is one of my favorites. It is big, but without being too heavy, and is more than tough enough to take whatever you can throw at it. The edge geometry is far supior to the 5 as well.

    ESEE 5 knife

ESEE knives are fantastic, I wouldn't recomend the 5 though. Take a look at the 3, 4, LS, or even the 6 instead. The 5 was made as an air crew survival knife for downed pilots, and it can hack through an aircraft fusalage and otherwise be used and abused beyond what other knives can handle...

    Look what I have coming!!!

Thanks to all of you, glad I'm not the only one to think it looked like a briliant little blade. I'll post more once I get it.

    Look what I have coming!!!

Its an early Mark Wohlwend custom, he called it the "Guardless Bushcrafter", nice hybrid of the Skookum and Woodlore styles. 3mm thick O1 steel blade stock, with cocobolo handle scales. Won't have it in hand for a few days, but I'm really excited and wanted to share it with you chaps.

I say budget, you say knife

Not sure of your exact budget, but for what you are describing I would recomend the Fallkniven F-1. It is stainless (will be an important feature in Alaska), has a comfortable and grippy handle, high quality overall, and the convex edge will work well on both wood and game.

    Mora sheath

Good idea, it would look a bit cleaner that way, thanks for the tip mate. :)

    Hello

Just wanted to drop in and properly intoduce myself. My name is Zack, and I live in the Northeast US in the state of Maine. Thugh I am active on some of the US bushcraft sites, I find that I prefer the more asthetic and traditional aproach to things that I find here and on the other UK...

looking for a first aid kit storage box

The older ALICE era US military IFAK box is very good, the pouch that held it not so much. I have put the hard plastic liner box inside of a newer MOLLE pouch and am very pleased with the arangement. I hope this helps, though I'm not sure how common US surplus items are in Britain.

    Webley Air Pistol

Have any of you taken small game with one of these Webley air pistols??? If so, at what range and with what pellet design???

    Mil-tec poncho liner

I have a "real" US surplus poncho liner, and it is great. It rolls up to about the same size as a pair of cargo pants.
