OK finally got around to getting some more done today on my bow and it aint broke yet!! couple of knots im a bit bothered about. Second one seems ok, but the other seems to have opened up a bit >.< Its lemonwood backed with hickory btw

I'm makin a longbow at the moment from a hickory backed lemonwood stave. Part tillered im ready for rounding the belly off some more but im not sure i i need to add a riser to this side as well as the back? I also noticed that around the handle area the glue kinda missed and didnt stick, so...

Just reading about catapults in another thread and was wondering if there was any ifo out there on making and using slingshots cant seem to find anything other than on actual catapults?

Yes thats right unknown very hard wood from a pallet board, any ideas what it is? Strange stuff brown in appearance till i started to cut it which brought out a kind of purpleish pink with a black tinge to the middle:rolleyes: (since identified as purpleheart on BB)

Fancied a go at one of these for ages. Finally managed to get hold of an old hickory bucher knife and a couple hours later...............

hi, received my first gransfors today, a little wildlife hatchet. my first thoughts were this is useless its too small! then I had a play with it in the garden and I can say im well impressed, I carved a length of dowelling up into chippings in what seemed like minutes, cutting little notches...

I spent a lot of time as a youngster shooting bows and making my own arrows with cedar shafts and all the bits from a shop my brother used to take me to in Nottingham?(think I might have dreamed that bit, Robin Hood etc.) My brother actually made a long bow from ash which he still uses 20+ yrs...

I was going to buy a frosts crook knife yesterday but then reralised that there are 3? different ones. which one is the best for a first go at spoon/bowl making. The one I was looking at was the single edge version but I cant help thinking that the double edge version would be more versatile...
