    Gas Guzzlers

It funny to watch in the wintertime...All the yuppy urban 4x4's here seem to take themselves out in crashes, since they don't know how to drive them properly! They get them for the "Bad" winters (which aren't that bad) and end up just driving further into the ditches, foot to the floor thinking...

    knife amnesty

I wonder if by having an amnesty, it gives some people a chance to unload unwanted knives from their boxes hidden in the back closet. Nobody has mentioned yet about criminals possibly breaking into otherwise decent homes with law abiding citizens that happened to have an old knife tucked away...

    Tracking...

The advice given in this thread are all good! I'm 3/4 of the way through this book myself, and I am finding it a really good read. I actually started tarcking after doing my Tracker Level 1 course last summer. The book they based the course on was called: "Tracking: A Blueprint for Learning...

    What to see in Vancouver

You can rent equipment from various places. It'll save you carting all that stuff over here. Here's a good place to start: Linky MEC have a store in Vancouver and one in North Vancouver. In Calgary, our University also rents outdoor equipment, so I'd imagine the Uni out on the coast may...

    Attitudes Concerning Rescue

Maybe we as rescuers are enabling these people. Perhaps it's time to cull the herd a bit and get rid of some muppets! ;) Seriously though, if I was to feel like I was doing anything to put my life in jeopardy, I would re-look at my strategy in a rescue situation. I also don't have to contend...

    what would you do?

Since they had very little with them to start with, it would have been best to stay in the vehicle out of the elements, plus the vehicle may be spotted by someone passing by. Unless of course there was a house nearby. They were smart to try and conserve fuel like that though. It's always sad...

    Attitudes Concerning Rescue

I've been with SAR for over a year now, and went on about 15 callouts last year, but I have never actually heard anyone complain about rescueing anyone yet. The mind set of our local group is that if the person was found alive, hopefully safe and sound then all the training we do was for a good...
