Great stuff mate, glad to see it out an sealed straight away. maybe not 100% necessary but might be worth putting a bit of sealant on the inside where the hooks are attached, mine developed a drop on one of them after about 8 months, no problems since putting some sealant on it

I'd say any pole based tripod is going to be a risk, maybe this?

Not used the MK poles, maybe something like this could work for you though? Can't see it being any less stable than the MK photo pole?
