    Woodlander Arrives- Ben Orford Knife

Funny that. I've bought (ahem) a few knives and axes in my time and hardly ever cut myself I've bought 2 from Ben, this one and a wee crook knife, and each time I've created some claret on day one :) Must be the "curse of the Orford"

    Woodlander Arrives- Ben Orford Knife

In the words of Homer Simpson "Dohhh!" Yes you are right. and there was me thinking I was clever It is virtually the same knife 4mm. steel stock, Yew Handle. The difference with mine is the modification to the sheath (idea shamelessly ripped off the bearclaw knife) and the blade top edge...

How many knives and/or axes do you own?

Exactly. If Gwen finds out about this forum I only own the one. Honest If she doesn't I don't want to count as then I would start working out how much money I've spent and how overdrawn I am

    Woodlander Arrives- Ben Orford Knife

You said the lanyard hole was in the wrong place to your view. I simply hung it up by some string through the lanyard hole and it hangs plumb. which to my mind is a good thing as the pointy bits are pointing straight down.

    Woodlander Arrives- Ben Orford Knife

I've just got mine today It's very very nice However I got Ben to add an extra bevel on the blade so my poor little pinkies didn't get sore if wet and using fire rod. Also I got a seperate leather loop so the sheath hangs below my rucksack belt and flops out the way when I sit down

    101 Top Tips

Re. 17. Use dried whitener for brews (tastes the same as milk to me On a Woodsmike I did course they used sugar lumps instead of sugar granules. Thus preventing me getting confused late p.m. or early a.m. and having VERY white but nasty tasteing coffee

    Fire steels & blade spines

My Helle Egen is absolutely pants for making sparks My Frost Mora is fabulous I prefer the feel and look of the Helle knife At least till my new Ben Orford one turns up (gloat gloat) So I use the wee bit of metal that came with the ferro rod thingy Not really a problem as it doesn't weigh...

    Favourite Knot

I love stopper knots. Why? Because it is such fun to use the wrong one to confuse the unwary (I am a vindictive chap on occasion - well try to be) Do I mean a climbing stopper knot ? or a gib sheet sailing stopper knot ? If that game gets dull I can swiftly move onto coiling up ropes...

    Survival School weekend course.

Depends what you want to achieve out of the course. It's easier surely to recognise trees when they have leaves on them. It's easier to learn about spring greens in the spring. It's easier to learn about Autumn harvests in the Autumn. What do you want out of this hobby? A sense of oneness...

Sabre 45 is here! what do you use all the clips for?

I'm no expert but I believe that the sabre 45 is what they call PLCE compatible. I.E. it takes all those side pouch type jobs etc. My bag is an army surplus special for £25.00 but has the same deal 2 zips to hold the side pouches on plus 2 clips top and bottom of each which I use to clip the...

I'm extremely glad it wasn't just me that had probs It was a tad embarrasing as my partner kept saying things like "I thought you were a scout leader" and "didn't you used to make a living tying things up in the air?" The tutorial with the green webbing was very handy so thankks to sender...
