    I would seal it with a little linseed oil or walnut oil, should do the trick and won't taint the fruit.

    Roy Underhill - The Woodwright's Workshop

    I've been watching Roy for years, he's usually on PBS (Public Broadcasting System) in either Nebraska or Iowa. He's very good at what he does and is a firm believer in the old school way of crafting. You won't see a power tool on Roy's show!

    jerky cuts?

    I'm with pilsbury, I use Rump Roast and cut with. I mix my jerky seasoning in with a 1/2 liter water and pour over 8 pounds of sliced meat, toss well then smoke in the propane smoker with mesquite wood chips for 4-6 hours, mmmmm good!

    I use 100 grit and finish out with 240, I use walnut oil for my spoons and such.
