There is a lot of Kites around the valleys. They have been here for quite some years now. I think people are just noticing them more because of the lock down.
I thought I would have ago at carving a bird for the first time. As a prototype and practise I used some Scotts I had laying about. I’m quite please with the result and very little tearing from the pine too. Sits well in the poplar bowl.
I finally got round to making a bowl carving bench this weekend.
I decided to give it a whirl with a chunk of poplar I had laying around. It does make life a lot easier working off something like this.
Bowl needs a final sanding just letting it dry off for now.

You can do an easy temper by making a outdoor fire then resting the axe in the ashes for an hour while keeping a small fire going on top of the ashes. Wrap the handle in tinfoil the best you can.
They do sometimes suffer from heat treat issues just one of them things with metal unfortunately. I've seen it a couple of times before with GB but they are excellent in handling the warranty.
Looking good what woods are using for the handle? Only thing I would of changed is to have the tang in the middle rather than the top if your fitting a brass bolster it might show abit of a gap.
