    Roe Deer in South Wales

Interesting... maybe a mile or so north of MM, close to the Swansea-London railway line. Wonder who released them at MM and why? Don't really mind because it makes a great addition to the local fauna... and gave me a chance to practice tracking yesterday....mmmm Roe Deer poo!

    Roe Deer in South Wales

I've seen the Fallow Deer at Margam, and the feral fallows living in the forestry above there, didn't know they had Roe as well. Most of the stuff I've read about Roes in Wales suggests it's more a case of natural expansion into Wales from England rather than escapes. I don't mind which way it...

    Roe Deer in South Wales

Was out and about in my local patch on Friday, the first time in a long time because of all the work hours I'm putting in. As I sneaked along the forest edge, heard a bit of a rustle, expected to see a fox and up pops a Roe deer, doe, who looked at me with pretty much the same amount of surprise...

    Neeps

Madhur Jaffery does a good recipe in her " A Taste of India" book although it's for the small ones ( which I remember being called "Navets" in Glasgow) I have used the big ones, tumshies/Swedes with success but cubed rather than wedges since ehty seem to take longer to cook. Let's see how long...

    What does 83.070.96.58 do?

I'm using an extension called NoScript in Firefox to manage whether or not a page can run Javascript. It tells me that the IP address 83.070.96.58 is trying to run a script. Seems that ip belongs to uk2.net which is see is your host. Do I lose anything by not letting this script run?

    No Horizontal scroll bar

When viewing this thread the picture width is greater than the space allowed on screen but there was no scroll bar at the bottom. I used the arrow key, so no great problem. I'm using Firefox 2 on XP. Cheers Andrew

    Wanted - Millbank Bag

I got mine from eBay, with a date going way back to the 40's. When I queried this, the seller told me he had just recently been issued it  , ie it had come out of stores somewhere before he was sent abroad. TBH I don't think there's much wrong with it.

    Numbers spray painted on trees?

Do these laws apply to forests, or just to trees in urban areas which presumably provide amenity value to local residents??

The 2nd Fire box Group Buy

just played with mine once, and my impression was that it needed good quality small fuel to make it work well. Couldn't get much of that where I was so didn't get the heat output needed to boil water. I'll have a play with some better fuel before I decide if it's a keeper. I did try the Pocket...

Advice needed - monocular or binoculars?

Hmm, not so good for wood warblers.... I can see some settings where that would be useful, and I've done my fair share of carting round bins, scope and tripod but it's rare these days that I take the scope out... never really got into sea watching
