    Antiseptic Cotton buds

This stuff? A bottle last ages, I still have one somewhere in a FAK.

    Coffee in the Woods

One great advantage of the Aeropress apart from it making exceptional coffee is, the clean up. One puck of grounds and a paper filter. Quick wipe of the plunger with a kitchen towel and it goes back in your bag ready to use again. There’s even a silicone lid available for the plunger so you can...

NATO watch strap 2 piece ?

Just another option for your guy because they’re very comfortable. Barton Silicone Elite come in a range of colours and a buy 2 get one free. I have a few and the silicone is soft and supple, really comfy all day wear. Also, having a few colours is nice, I’ve got an army green, orange...

    Antiseptic Cotton buds

Alcohol definitely not, but Betadyne certainly prevented a few wounds and scratches getting badly infected in Thailand. I know it’s not supposed to be applied to flesh, but it works really well. I’d rather have a bottle of that than those plastic straws, that’s a bad single use job. Iodine...

What are your favourite pocket knives?

Don’t knock Vibranium alloys til you’ve tried them :D Here’s a Heinies list of UK legal EDC sub 3” non lockers. 589 knives and I’d still pick a UKPK Salt in Magnacut. https://heinnie.com/UK-EDC-Knives

NATO watch strap 2 piece ?

I bought mine here. The watch I wanted it on is a fattie, an Omega homage as worn by Bond in No Time To Die. https://notostrapstore.com/products/2-piece-military-style-strap-with-quick-release-pins Also, look on Zuludiver at quick release.

    Storm Éowyn

I actually don’t care to look. I’m well aware that people were hit hard by the storm and wasn’t making light of it, no need for the scolding! I don’t follow the news as there’s absolutely nothing of interest, most of it winds me up, and there’s nothing I can do about it. That just happened to...

    Stropping compound?

Here’s a chart with the polishing compounds, the colours all designate the grit. So a blue, from a reputable supplier, should be a standard grit compound for final polishing.

    Stropping compound?

It’s hard to say. I bought that from a bloke on here ages ago and there’s still a load left. But it does depend on what you’re sharpening and how often etc. I’m sure it’s not the only 1 Micron diamond compound available. Axminster must do something similar?

    Storm Éowyn

This is a picture from the BBC weather news this morning. Their brave and intrepid photographers headed out into the gale to capture this spectacular shot illustrating the ferocity of the storm :D

    Stropping compound?

It will, but it’s a very fine abrasive. I’m not sure, but I think that polishing pastes, like toothpaste, T Cut, Flitz have particles that are softer than carborundum or diamond and therefore smooth down in use so they gradually stop cutting and begin to polish. T Cut in particular is for...

    Storm Éowyn

We’ve been forecast 30mph winds with gusts up to 50mph so no mega threat here apart from there being a lot of trees which have sat on waterlogged ground for a while. Just north of the South Downs, so the land here is prone to it while the water tries to find its way to the coast.

    Day pack decision

Agreed. I very nearly bought one on the back of this thread, I was a hairs breadth from pulling my very light trigger :lmao: Have to say, I’d still love a Savotta. The Direct Action Dragons Egg I use is awesome for organising, but because it’s split into 3 main pockets (back one being flat for...

    The best barrow is....

That was an early Dyson invention. We had one with the extension, but the ball didn’t have bearings, it was just nylon on a steel shaft as I remember. The same sort of thing in steel with decent bearings and you’d have a winner.

    What did you buy today?

Your carpet is much too clean, you need to get out in them :)

    Best bushcraft trousers?

Another vote for the Helikon Tex Urban Pant. Good cut for everyday wear, about 10 pockets I think.

    Stropping compound?

Probably a softer particle, and uneven size. A problem with any poor quality or cheap abrasive is even particle size.

    Withdrawn USB torch/light

You bought 4 off me, how many do you need? Or are we seeing the beginning of ‘a problem’ with torches :D

    Stropping compound?

Starkie Blue, as Chris says, is the original stuff. I’m not keen, I find it glazes over quickly. I bought some diamond paste that’s been good, you can feel it cutting and it leaves a mirror edge.

    What did you buy today?

I bought a couple of pens too. A Troika Liliput Construction pen and an ONLINE tiny wallet pen.
