Merry ChristmasGuest, we hope that you have a great day wherever you are, and we're looking forward to hearing of your adventures in the New Year!
When I cut a branch off of a tree I try to cut it as close to the trunk as possible. I have heard though that I should be cutting it a little longer or I could damage the wrinkly bit of the trunk that goes around the branch.
Anyone know the best way to cut off a branch?
Also, what is...
Maybe you should change the name of this to My other half is not a bushcraft nutter......The other halfs never come on here :rolmao: So we should be talking about them!
Thanks for all the information guys, although reading through this there seems to be two threads going. One that should be here and another that should be goodness knows where :nono:
Tony - do you mean that some of the people that enjoy sailing and mountaineering are interested in bushcraft...
2005 :yikes: that's ages away, you should consider going with another school. AS far as I know Ray does not teach the beginners course but he would be there for the Journeyman. You could do you first course with Woodlore, woodcraft or one of the other schools. These guys were all Rays chief...

I think for me one of the best secret food stores for me is in some old graveyards in Dorset and Surrey. The Berries are great and the place is usually empty so it's nice to just take your time and pick loads!
It may be a good idea to get an old map of the area and look up old buildings that...
Good to see the email login page has gone, mush better now :P
Some of the links on the left column are not working, mostly on the rollover pictures
Murphys Law, I post a gripe (30 seconds ago) about Ray Mears site being way too pricey   But for fire steels I think they are a good price £8.50 can't remember if they have postage on top of that, they didn't used to but??
I had a peek at the British Blades site, excellent, although way over my head with their technical orientation. But, some really worthwhile stuff to learn there. It would be good if some of them could do some articles on Knives and steels etc.
