Lure fishing/spinning in the sea and fresh water.

Yeah, I won’t do anything silly. The retrieval’s interesting too, I’ve seen advocates for a fast wind retrieval, one that lets the lure sink and then you lift it back up as you wind, and then others seem to pull the rod back quite hard and then wind as they point the rod back to sea.

Lure fishing/spinning in the sea and fresh water.

All along that North coast of the SE, from Rochester to Margate, is within a reasonable drive, and even down the East coast towards Dover. The water has been murky looking wherever I’ve tried so far, but from the spinning vids I’ve watched on Youtube the bass fisherman don’t seem to think it...

I’d like to get some bass, ideally, but at the moment a whelk would be a start. Thanks for the help, mate.

Lure fishing/spinning in the sea and fresh water.

Hi, I’ve recently bought one of the Shimano STC spinning rods (2.4m assembled, and a casting limit of 100g), but I’ve had no luck catching anything yet. I’m in the South East of England, so have plenty of coast to choose from. I’m just after some help with general technique, lures, knowing...

    Compact sea fishing rod?

It’s a bit early for me to recommend this Shimano, seeing as I’m yet to use it, but it sounds like the exact thing you’re after. It can cast up to 100g and it’s 2.4m long when assembled. It packs down into 4 pieces too.

    Compact sea fishing rod?

Thanks, I’ll order some wedges and some bait elastic. I’ve bought braid after reading it’s better for 80% of things. Yeah, I’m fully aware that I won’t have a proper beach casting rod on my hands, I just wanted one small, portable rod setup that can do a bit of everything. If I’m honest, I...

    Compact sea fishing rod?

I thought I’d pop back in now I’ve got most of the stuff. I bought the Shimano STC 2.4m that can cast up to 100g. I’m just waiting on my reel (ordered the 2500 Daiwa Ninja) and some fluorocarbon leader. Now for some silly questions: Could I potentially use this set up for bait fishing, too...

Malanika chopper in Vanadis 4E or in CPM 4v?

I ended up getting the Malanika Chopper in 4V with a jade green micarta handle. I think it’s just jumped over everything else I own and is now my favourite knife. The quality is unbelievable and dealing with Danijel was very easy, I can’t recommend him enough.

1 year wasted time with Bulgarian custom knife maker (Dulo Knives)

Ah, balls. I’ve got one of their A1 replicas on order in 3V. I wonder if that’ll ever turn up.

    Best water purifier?

I want to buy a purifier to save me boiling water from rivers/streams but I’m not sure which one to go for. I watch quite a few bushcrafters/hikers on Youtube/Insta and some use Lifestraw stuff, others use the Sawyer systems, and some use the Katadyn range and say it’s much faster flowing than...

    BlueAngelical hybrid bedroll

I probably would, but they can be used on their own in good weather, too. They can be used as a sleeping mat inside a tent, as a sleeping bag when folded, or as either of those underneath a tarp. They’re pretty much 40% sleeping mat, 40% sleeping bag, 20% bivvy.

    BlueAngelical hybrid bedroll

Yeah, I certainly wouldn’t presume that everyone needs one of these, I only made the thread in search for some tips and advice when using it. Hopefully I’m not the only person here who’s fancied giving bedrolls a go, rather than hammocks/tents/bivvies/tarps, etc.

    BlueAngelical hybrid bedroll

It’s definitely not the way most people like to camp. This thing would look strange amongst the ultralight gear that most seem to veer towards nowadays. I’m pretty confident it’ll last me forever though, which isn’t something I could say about my inflatable sleeping mat.

    BlueAngelical hybrid bedroll

Yeah, this is the first thing I’ve bought but it’s great quality. I’ll be looking at other stuff. It’s all handmade.

    BlueAngelical hybrid bedroll

What combination does everyone use with their bedrolls? Just a tarp over the top and a wool blanket for in/on the bedroll? Anyone used one inside a tent?

    Knivesandtools.co.uk

I found their customer service an absolute nightmare. Had to wait weeks for a knife with no updates or replies to my emails, and then when it arrived it was the wrong knife anyway. It did all get resolved in the end but it took a few months and a lot of effort on my behalf.

Offensive Weapons Act 2019: surrender and compensation scheme. December 2020 - March 2021

Looks like I’m in the clear, all of mine are pretty clearly small bushcraft/survival knives. No curved swords or shuriken here. Blowpipes was a surprise addition.
