Spring has Arrived - in Northen Mid-Wales

Hopefully this works. No sound at the moment, need to record some nice garden sounds without the drone of lawnmowers.

    On Eating Properly...

Really skint people cant afford freezers, probably couldn't afford to run one if they had it, they definitely don't have the cash to bulk buy. Its also difficult to bulk buy if you haven't got transport and live out of town. I grew up late 70s early 80s, in a council house in Kent. Being poor...

Compact binoculars: Steiner ultrasharp safari (or alternative)

Have a look at any local bird / wildfowl reserves, see if they have an optics retailer on site, or have one visit. Some offer trade ins so have 2nd hand stock, they are also great places to try out optical kit.

Nikon D750 quick release right angled plate. Free ish

Not a trade, this is a free. If it fits your camera I would just like you to give something to your local homeless charity. Its a Arca Swiss compatible QR plate, designed to allow portrait and landscape mounting of a camera. I have just adapted my tripods to use this setup, but the supplier...

    Planning UK Walking Adventure Ideas

The Greensand way runs near to me, might be a good into one to so. Never that far from a pub, and some lovely scenery. https://www.ldwa.org.uk/ldp/members/show_path.php?path_name=Greensand+Way

Re-establishing the natural balance - UK

On a separate note, when I was at uni we visited a variety of wildlife reserves, parks, etc around Hampshire. Most were managed for general wildlife, but the ones managed for a single species could be pretty unforgiving. Then again group like the RSPB and SNH tend to be pretty quiet about there...

Re-establishing the natural balance - Americas and Exotics

Mainly West Kent, but some over the border on the boundaries of Ashdown Forest. One estate I helped out on used a contract stalker to help the game keeper out, with anybody else that was hanging around used to walk woods through, or shift the shot deer. In a reasonable day we would shoot and...

Re-establishing the natural balance - Americas and Exotics

I have worked on large shooting estates in Kent and Sussex. Generally deer populations are surveyed, quiet often by an outside contractor, and the required number of female deer will be shot to control the populations. This is also how the big land owners like the National Trust operate. The...

    Bell tent campsite on budget

About the best I can manage is a camping shed in Sussex ;) https://www.battenhurstandcairds.com/contact-us.html have not stayed there myself, but have read some good comments from people at my astronomy club, they use the site because of its dark skies.

    British Army Respirator

If you don't have any luck on here try kitmonster in Tunbridge Wells, they tend to have a pile of old stuff in the corner that's probably not on the website. Reasonably close to you as well. http://www.kitmonster.co.uk/

    Sewing webbing, any tips?

Thanks for all the info hopefully "borrow" the wifes sewing machin over the weekend to give it a go. Last thing I made on it was blackout curtains for our old place..

    Sewing webbing, any tips?

I have two small tasks that require me to sew some standard 25mm webbing, its just replacement buckles on to straps. So I have a couple of questions 1. Machine or hand (my wife has a home sewing machine). 2. If its its hand, what needle, thread and awl to get 3. If machine what needle and...

    Bread

I bake a loaf most weekends, nice and cold in the garage so I leave it overnight to proof in there. I tend to do the mixing using an old stand mixer, then knead by hand after the first proof. Seems to work ok so far. Hopefully progress on to sourdough at some point, was eying up a one day course...

    Map Geek

Another map lover, think its partly down to being curious (or nosey as the wife calls me). If I see something I like to know what it is m, what its history is, and what's planned for the future. This is partially helped by my wife being a planning officer, we also live in times where its...

Used Gumotex Inflatables at Excellent prices!

Very tempted with the sea wave. I have an old solar that is fantastic, although logically I should sell my pak canoe and get a rigid. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

    Discussing the design of Pockets:

I tend to wear a mix of 5.11 and Rohan kit. Some Rohan trousers have an inner zipped pocket inside the main pocket, great for keeping cash. Jacket wise the Paramo jackets I have do seem to have a sensible pocket layout, the newer shooting orientated ones with the big bellows pockets look good...

    COMFORTABLE Base layer for legs

I have a few base layers and mids from sub zero clothing, they are a UK manufacturer and do a wide range of base layers. Also worth checking out there clearance section! I have a pair of the no seam base layers that I wear under combats when out shooting in the winter, just need to hunt them...
