Its a Arca Swiss compatible QR plate, designed to allow portrait and landscape mounting of a camera. I have just adapted my tripods to use this setup, but the supplier sent me the wrong bracket. I believe it will only fit a D750, it definitely doesn't fit a D7200, and is unlikely to fit a D7100 or similar. The arca swiss compatible clamps are about £10 on amazon, and work really well. I can measure it up if anybody thinks it will fit another camera.
