Let's be honest, judging by the demographic of most 'bushcraft' gatherings I suspect they'd pay us not to be on the shows

To be honest it would make far more entertaining viewing than the general survival drivel tv.
‘Love Handle Island’. Over fifties give honest and candid information to millennials about their bodies, love lives and ailments.

Our modern world exists on a knife edge, but if the worst happened, the fight for survival won't be in jungles, forests or desert islands. It'll be in the towns and cities we call home.
In this bold and ambitious social experiment, Channel 4 is sending a group of ordinary people to a jaw dropping, real world location - an abandoned town that bears all the hallmarks of being ravaged by an apocalyptic event. They'll have to survive for 28 days without running water, heating, or electricity. They'll need to scavenge for food and supplies, reusing and repurposing anything they find but only if they can muster skills and wherewithal to do it.
Nothing here comes easy, and in the face of scarce resources will this unlikely group of strangers band together or fall apart?
Apocalypse (w/t) 8x60’ is a factual series from The Garden, part of ITV Studios.
ITV Studios will handle international distribution.
Nicola Brown, Creative Director at The Garden says: “Apocalypse is a hugely ambitious new take on the beloved survival genre. We're dropping our cast in an incredible urban landscape, filled with the debris of modern life. In this alien yet familiar world, they'll start again from scratch, and discover what's really important to them. We can't wait to chart the highs and lows as our cast face a series of tough choices, battling the environment and perhaps even each other...”
Ian Dunkley, commissioning editor at Channel 4 says: “Apocalypse will be the real deal - ordinary people in an authentic urban setting facing extraordinary but completely credible challenges. We’ve all wondered how we would cope if disaster struck close to home, and this series promises to give us a very good idea.”

It just might show us a little of the psychological aspects of survival but not much.
All participants know that it will be over in a month.
Not the sort of thing that I’ll be watching but the emergence and maintenance of leadership will be interesting.

Because it is a tv show the producers will do all sorts of thing to arificially create drama.
Which I would suggest Humans do anyway in most situations when they feel the need to.
Office politics and Kings Court toadyism, Chimp politics and pecking orders..
Honestly, I think that latter one is a horrible slap in the face to people like those on the West Bank, or the invaded Ukraine. It's their reality. It's the reality of a thousand wars.
You know what wins ? family, society, community. Individuals rarely thrive in those scenarios.

I wonder what the production company would do if they all settled down for a month, accepted the difficulties and got on with it as a community.
I wonder what they’d do to provoke drama. This isn’t about survival for them; it’s about making something that will sell on commercial TV and attract advertisers. (As are they all.)

Don’t be conned. It’s a renowned kip. The best thing about it are the multiple ways out - road, rail and boat. If it was bigger there’d be an airport.
