    Skogkniv patch- where's yours?

Finally got mine on. Had to wait till I got my Karrimor Sabre. It's not quite straight and it is the first time I've done double stitching but very pleased with the result.

How did you choose your bushcraft name

My name is Robert, I tend to lurk and read rather than post so I'm quiet, and I really like the character Silent Bob from the film "Dogma", I use it on all forums I'm a member of.

    What's your Dog?

Lovely collection of dogs on this thread, and some real characters too by the looks of it. This is Shadow, 6 month old Border Collie.

How Many Open Canoe Paddlers On Here?

Me too, don't get out as often as I'd like and been sticking to canals lately to teach Thing 1 and Thing 2 how to paddle. Hoping to get up to Scotland eventually for some wild camping.

    Reborn Scout

Scouts and bushcraft go hand in hand and your Scouts will definitely benefit from your experience. There are loads of Leaders on here and some very interesting posts with lots of cool stuff. Search for anything by Stovie, Brancho, SimonM and Mang (I'm sure there are others - apologies if I've...

    Assistant leaders?

It is a shame that a lot of Scout groups give this impression. There are lots of other groups that are getting outside at every opportunity. As for buschcraft skills, our group dabbles in quite a few aspects - we don't claim to make them into experts but we give them a taste of it - usually...

    Assistant leaders?

Definitely - if the group you're with doesn't get out much then help change that! My group is in North Manchester (Middleton) and at least 2 of our Troops and our Explorer unit get outside fairly regularly and like to camp in hammocks when they can. Our Explorers have occasionally done a whole...

    Biker's Woodspirit a.k.a. "Beserker"

That's really lovely work! I've no experience of using Dremel type tools for carving. Roughly what percentage of the work was done using the Dremel? (I'm keen to speed up my own work and I'm wondering if it is worth investing in something like that).

Another wood spirit - but still not how I want it.

Thanks everyone for the comments. It is cherry, I have a few pieces lying around that I found a couple of years ago. I'll try the next one using chisels as people have suggested then do the finer details with the set of small gouges I have. Hopefully doing it like this will be quicker and let...
