    'Survival Tin' romance....

First paragraph - not correct at all, did you make it up? Second paragraph - yes, filming stopped, the means of communicating with SAR aircraft clearly must remain restricted. The 'Survival Tin' was an invention for a course, not an operational item.

    Whats In Your Survival Tin

The flip-side of that perspective - you could only use the survival tin if you were relatively unscathed. By that I mean how would you cope in a real 'survival situation' - tin or no tin - by definition you would likely be somehow incapacitated (dislocations, fractures, burns). From experience...

    Fear of the dark

You are right, it is because I do not believe most of what I read on this forum. I am a sceptic, I am open to evidence, I cannot be spoon-fed myth and embellished yarns without questioning or challenging the originator, my sincere apologies for any offence caused but it is the way I am.

    Fear of the dark

I do not ask for details of the accident victims, Maggot would not know this in any case. I ask for the year this incident took place and any witnesses to the screams and voices heard? If true, an incredible story, however I suspect that it is a second or third hand Army myth which has...

    Fear of the dark

I do not intimate the accident itself is incredible, I suggest that the incident can be validated if further detail is provided. The dit is so sketchy it could easily be a soldiers myth, which leads me to think: if true (and can be validated), this is an incredible story.

    Fear of the dark

The sceptic in me wonders which year you refer to? Obviously a fatality at Otterburn ranges can be validated? Sounds incredible, I just wonder if true?

    Bushcraft equipment

I couldn't agree with you there my good man, I read recently about the footballer chap who is attempting to develop an eco-home, they are not all lacking in the skills required. Of course, my observation does not neatly follow the bushcraftier-than-thou attitude that haunts the forum, so I...

All this fuss over a broken branch?

    Pet peeve!

It would be a punishable offence to be found poisoning your neighbours cats with aspirin, so it is probably the best thing to avoid poisoning any troublesome cats with soluble aspirin, which is available very cheaply from your local supermarket.

    How do you number 2?

A light application of petroleum jelly prior to the act and you'll need surprisingly little loo roll. If soiling your footwear or clothing concerns you at all, simply remove them before the stage above!

Walkers relying on smartphone apps blamed for 50% hike in mountain rescure call outs

Most rescues involve walkers who have suffered an injury, who are usually always adequately dressed and equipped and have navigation equipment. Which rather scuppers the 'armchair experts' view of badly dressed grumble grumble shouldn't be there grumble grumble ... I rarely have a compass or...
