    Survival knife

Totally agree with all Draven's points. I actually bought one very similar to this a couple of years ago when I was a little 'greener' than I am now! Next to useless! With no tang the blade feels like it could snap off (or fall out!) with any sort of hard usage! I put it straight into a box...

    Silver Birch

Glad to see others of you out there were thinking along the same lines as me...well Silver Birch was the obvious Bushcrafter's choice! And indeed it is VERY sweet to take money from the bookies!

    Silver Birch

I LOVE Silver Birch! Just won £200 backing it on the Grand National! :D (Thought it my duty to put a few quid on it as I'd tapped the tree for sap a few days ago!)

Survival shows helped lost teen - News Item

He may have survived, but he obviously didn't take anything onboard about always being prepared when you go into the wilderness...

    Survival Kit for any situation

Cheers for the comments Agile. To address your points... I've kinda' got another pan in my metal mug: it's the US army type (holds a pint), and I have a small hole drilled in it (on the other side from the handle) to allow me to hang it over a fire. Fully take your point on board...

    Survival Kit for any situation

Well, I did put in a disclaimer at the start! :o Thanks. I suppose food wise it's technically 72 hours (but with the means for more). Generally though, I hope it would last me for a longer period than that with hunting & foraging to provide more food. With the term "Bug Out Bag" would you be...

    Old Ray Mears Series.

    Survival Kit for any situation

Hey everyone. Cheers for all the comments. Thought some of you might find the length of the list amusing! :o Never expected a response quite like this...my first 'discussion' thread started...I'm quite emotional! Anyway, [cough], to answer some of the points brought up. Lots of issues...

    DD hammock discount

Hey everyone. Seen on several threads that DD Hammocks (http://www.ddhammocks.com/) apparently offer a discount to BCUK members. Just wondered how I go about getting the discount, and how much it is? Cheers. fraz79 Answered my own question in the end by emailing the company. It's a...

New 'Wild Food' book by Ray Mears

Hello everyone. Just stumbled across details that Ray will be releasing his own book about wild food next year (ISBN: 0340827904). Still early days so not many details yet, but I've seen 2 different dates for it's release, Jan & April 2007. Should be good I'm sure! Here's the synopsis of...
