    Snugpak Response Pak

Nice review. I never tire of seeing what other people put in theirs! Isn't that bottle inclined to slip out of the loops? I used mine as a handlebar bag on my bicycle for a while. The belt loops go round the bars (just) with the bag facing you, if you see what I mean. It's a bit of a pain to...

    Big Tent Festival

Ah. I was wondering if pitch size would be a problem for our 4m SoulPad (it's first outing). Apparently not. You'd be welcome to some tea - I'm hoping my Lime flowers will be dry by the weekend. I'll probably be wearing a sand coloured towel.

    Big Tent Festival

Indeed, making lists, we're camping the rest of the week after. The forecast says the rain might go away too. That would be nice.

    Big Tent Festival

Hi Chewbanana, Thanks for your response. You're right about the sparks of course, and the KK is not immune, e.g. if a small twig fire is seen to die out and you blow in the side of the base to get the flame going again. I find a slice from one of those wax & sawdust type fire logs makes...

    Big Tent Festival

Hi BigTenter I see fires are forbidden at the camping ground, but raised BBQ's are OK. Would you consider a Kelly Kettle acceptable (say, sitting on a raised BBQ or a wooden base to avoid scorching the grass)? Or would a KK user expect a visit from security for something other than a brew...

    Big Tent Festival

Locum, Thanks for posting this. I hadn't heard of it before. Just the sort of thing we were looking for. Looks like nice things for the kids. (Well, would have preferred to be able to have a fire, but you can't have everything!) Booked the tickets today.

It would be great if you could show us/the kids how to make corn dollies! Ditto. We would be keen to join in with a communal cook up.

    Skill sharing weekend. March 12th, 13th, 14th, 2010

Hi, I'm thinking of coming along with my wife and two children aged 4 (boy) & 7(girl). I was just wondering, is anybody else bringing young children?

Hobo hand fishing line - competition

Stuart, your priest/handline is very clever and very beautiful. Could you tell me what the cordage is made from? And have you had much luck shore fishing with such cordage and primitive hook (or gorge) setup?

    ghillie-kettle group buy

Kettle has arrived. Doesn't leak. They won't let me make fires in the office, so that's the end of testing for now. Thank you very much for arranging this sandbag.

    Hello

Toddy, it's not temptation I need. I'm gagging to get out, at least past the back garden. The "problem" is that small children seem to use up a disproportionately large portion of time, energy and just about every other resource. Wouldn’t swap them for anything of course. We get out for...

    Hello

Buying a 1.5L Ghillie Kettle for just that purpose! (In truth I probably am more of an Arthur Dent character than a Ford Prefect, but I read somewhere that the name Ford Prefect would be "nicely inconspicuous")

    Hello

Yes, I was following the buff/shemagh/bandana poll with interest. I like the idea of the Mors survival scarf with the midge net, but it does look a bit bulky as a scarf as modeled by Bimble. Suppose the ripstop wouldn't be so absorbent either!

    Hello

Thanks for the greetings. Ahh yes, the nutrient impregnated survival towel - I know where mine is! First post on first forum - visible by the whole planet - what's to panic about?
