I was with him yesterday. The only trees dead were the ones that had been tapped. In one case a tree had a split trunk. The untapped side was still healthy. Tapped side dead. I'll text him to get a picture as he is there now.
We used sealed wood with wax and resin. It comes off after a couple of years. The same with tar. The sap forces it off from the inside and insects attack the outside. It does not last long. Champagne corks painted with tar performed best. But the trees still rotted from the inside.
I think Ray is at home with the BBC. This is the first programme since Northern Wilderness that the whole family has shut up and watched. It is gentle and packed full of knowledge and history. More of this Ray.
Thank You's clutter up threads and are just not needed. They seem to be ego buttons than anything else as well as being used negatively. No place for them in polite society.
It took Jonathan four swigs before he noticed. It is his 'special' one with the white blob on the cap. The one reserved for special beverages. He took it out earlier this evening. I filled it up for him. [giggles evilly]
