    Opinion on this tarp please

It does have loops for the ridge line, it's lightweight and just the right size for covering a hammock. I just bought one and will be trying it out tonight for the first time. I'll let you know what I think of it.

    Cold Steel Kukri

My Brother in law has taken a shine to the Cold Steel 97KMS Kukri. Apart from FleaBay does anybody know for any reliable UK stockists where I might purchase it from?

    Flecktarn Smock ?

I have the woodland flecktarn version. Excellent jacket, better than the standard British smock. Not waterproof but if I was caught in a shower I wouldn't be too worried. There is also a quilted liner available for this jacket for around £6. Together they make an excellent combination for all...

    Sleeping bag

Snugpaks can be frustrating with the material catching zip too. That's life I guess. The best sleeping I ever had was the British Army bag with the big chunky centre zip, but then that bag filled my rucksack and weighed a good bit too. Can't have it all.

Was thinking about using some seat belt for tying around the trees.

    Hammock rope

I have been using my DD hammock for 2 years and loving it, I changed the flat rope/tape supplied when I first had it for 9mm purlon (the original was too short). However I find the 9mm rope a bit cumbersome and bulky, especially for tying on to the shackles I have fitted to my hammock...

    Sleeping bag

Allie, I have an Elite 3 and I find it great for coldish climates, however in Feb I used it at minus10 Celcius with my wife's Softie Chrysalis Kilo inside it and I cooked. The Elite 3 is a bit warm for summer nights so I gonna get a Snugpak Jungle bag for warmer nights. That way you can have it...

    protection of ferrocerrium rods

Never had a rust problem, however any oil rubbed on the surface would protect it from oxidation. As for efficiency, alot of variables such as technique, weather, choice of tinder and grade of steel used to strike a spark effect you results. I use the back of my knife for striking. If you don't...

    Doggy Hammock?

Well I have just started making a small hammock out of a waterproof mac by cutting off the arms and shoulder area, leaving me with a recangular section with a zip runing up the centre. I'll get my mother to machine sew the open ends and sew on some webbing loops at each corner to attach the...

    Doggy Hammock?

I want to take my dog with me when I camp out in my hammock. At present he only comes when I'm sleeping on the ground. He's only small and weighs 1 stone but I couldn't have him in with me, I turn to much. If I put him down on the ground he's sure to get edgy and bark at every noise he hears. I...

    German Army Gortex waterproofs

I have a jacket, tested it out with a shower head when I got it and it soaked through to my arm like it was made of tissue. Since then I machine washed it with the Nikwax waterproofer but haven't tested it since properly, only light rain. The zip is a bit fragile, but it does pack down nice and...

    Snugpak hooped bivi bag

Been wanting one of these Snugpak bivi's since I first saw em. I have an army issue bivi bag which I tested out overnight last year in the pouring rain. Kept me dry but was quite claustraphobic and lacking somewhat in fresh air. This one however looks like just the ticket.
