    Curing Rabbit Pelts

So I've gotta go away for a couple of days. Is it ok to freeze them and do the fleshing and that when I thaw them out?

    Curing Rabbit Pelts

Cheers mate, I didn't know about this magazine. The link says there is an article about it in the Winter 2011 issue though...

    Curing Rabbit Pelts

Hi, I was wondering what method people use for curing rabbit skins. I have done it to a baby rabbit before by just scraping off the skin and then covering in salt for like a week. Is this something I can do for a full size rabbit? I have two that have been paunched and ready to do! Thanks Martin

What can I do with this small antler?

Hi there I have been given a small antler and I am struggling to think of things to use it for. It was found in the woods by my uncle: Any ideas? Thanks

    Is it pignut season?

Thank you for all the information guys/girls, from what it seems it depends on local areas. I have been watching a lot of various trees and plants around my area, a lot of them are putting out leaves; the blackthorn is in full flower (I know they tend to be early) and the blossom is out on a lot...

    Is it pignut season?

As the title suggests, I'm after some pignuts! I have a day off tomorrow and I'm going camping in the evening so wanted to do some foraging. Am I too early for this? Also what sort of habitat will I find them in? Thanks :)

    cooking pheasant on/with a campfire?

Well I usually get good results in the oven as long as you keep them covered and in about an inch of water. I don't have a dutch oven, but might improvise with a sauce pan and lid. Thanks for the ideas!

    cooking pheasant on/with a campfire?

Hi there, I am going camping tonight and wondered if any of you guys and gals have experience in cooking a pheasant on a campfire. I eat it all through the winter from shooting and that, and know that if done incorrectly can be extremely dry after cooking. Any tips or methods that you prefer? I...

    Handmade Folding Buck Saw.

I was thinking that myself too, great minds think alike! Another thing I've been thinking is making another which is 12" high as apposed to 13" (this one). I'd then put slits in the back of the upright supports so that they can be folded back on to the blade. I'm going to experiment a bit as...

    Uses for pine resin?

oh really? I read that they are pretty bad for you: http://www.countrylovers.co.uk/wfs/wfsberries.htm but on further inspection it's the seed that is... We don't get many birch trees down in the south here (except in peoples gardens haha), but I've been using the bark for tinder, it's amazing. I...

    Uses for pine resin?

Luckily I know what Yew looks like as it used to be my favorite plant/tree/bush when I was a kid; everything about Yew seems poisonous. Cheers for the advice!

    Uses for pine resin?

I wanted to try this, but have read that the Douglas Pine/Fur is not good for you. I wasn't sure at the time if I was looking at a Scots pine or not...

    Collected some pine knots

Cheers for the advice Mike, I appreciate that a lot. I thought I'd need some substantial diameter knots to have the resin content I've read about. I did fasion some sort of hammer with the stump and limb combo. I'll go out tomorrow better prepared and let you know how it goes :D

    Uses for pine resin?

I went out today and had a look for pine nuts, but found that without an axe I couldn't get at them any sense. What I did find however is this: It's the snapped end of a massive limb that had broken off of an even bigger main trunk. I'm pretty sure it's Douglas fur, or Scots Pine. What you...
