    Wanted Spyderco Wolfspyder

You can put a microbevel on it, easily enough. It’s a nice knife but I didn’t find the handle very comfortable. There’s a Native 5 G10 on EM for £80 at the mo’ ...

Trying out any new cooking gear this year?

Less luggage capacity on my new motorcycle, so the MKettle and fuel has been replaced with a Soto Amicus stove and a GSI stainless pot, that the stove, gas canister and large fold-a-cup/bowl can nest in - at least 2/3 smaller in total.

    Cooking out with the firedragon

15deg C or so....It caused plenty of flame up out of the chimney! I'm planning on using it for a trip in couple of weeks time. I previously tried a donut ring (literally) to contain the gel and burn only around the edges, which made no difference, so I've now made a small choke plate to put...

    Cooking out with the firedragon

It's also my experience that 1 FD tab is too small to boil my 1/2 litre Mkettle, which is a little frustrating. The tabs need to be 1/4-1/3 larger.

Gel or solid fuel tabs on MKettle / Ghillie / Kelly kettle - any experience?

I really like the ease of lighting and relatively odour free burn of the Fire Dragon fuel tabs, but the 25g blobs won't boil a full MKettle: 4 1/2 mins to 84deg yesterday. I tried closing off the flue with a perforated plate: 6 1/2 mins to 86deg! A second blob gets a great boil well before...

    A worrying plant?

The leaf shape is right for JKW. Other indicators are alternative leaves up the stem, and purple blotches on the stem.

Recommend me a one man tent

Macpac microlite. Mines still going strong after 22 years. Bought for trekking, now used for motorcycle touring. Can squeeze in the panniers, boots, helmet and jacket in the porch area, keeping the inner dry, and can sit up just enough to get dressed inside. Pitches in one go with 8 pegs in a...

    campingaz stove intterailling trip advice

I used a CG Bluet when I inter railed yonks ago. Fine for beaches and campsites, and I hate the smell of meths. Built in Piezo lighters are a pain, though, and I have learnt to avoid them the hard way.

Opinions Sought - Spyderco UKPK vs. Boker Plus XS

I sent the only Boker Plus knife I've ever bought back to Heinnie Haynes. It was DREADFUL. The grind was grossly asymmetric, it was blunt, and dirty (in the sealed box!). It was so bad I e-mailed Boker who simply said it must be a one-off problem. I bought a Spyderco instead and have...

Suggestions for a stove? Under £50 (if possible)

Avoid any cheap gas stove with piezo ignition would be my advice. Or alternatively avoid piezo ignition altogether. I had a GoSystems (lamp) where the ignition failed after 1 day, and when lit with a match, after it heated up for a few minutes it self extinguished where obviously some poorly...

    18650 Batteries

There's loads of stuff on the web about the ****fire batteries - often crudely recycled old laptop batteries, and to be avoided at all cost! I've bought Efest 18650's from UK suppliers and have had no problems in use, although one was DOA and was replaced immediately, however, by the vendor.

    LED Lensers @ Halfords

Do these companies not realise that messing about with such offers just creates ill-will? Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory....

    Tent spikes and ferrules

I found some on e-bay by searching for awning spares, when I couldn't find them any other way.

    Mini line lok

They're pure genius. Every guy line I possess now has a line-Lok fitted. They do offer guidance on tarp/ hammock rigging on the website.
