    Where to go walkabout?

Hey Guys, Wondered if anyone could suggest some amazing paces and reasons to go backpacking this summer with my girlfriend? Any photos if you have the time would also be more than appreciated :) I was thinking maybe somewhere in Scotland or Wales, distance to travel isn't really a concern of...

    Should I become a Carpenter?

Everyone on this entire forum is so helpful, I'm glad I became a member. Not sure what I would have done without your help, even if an hour ago I was unsure. It's just daunting trying to decide what to do at 17, something I love now, or something that pays well and might not love. I will try...

    Should I become a Carpenter?

I understand what you're saying, and I appreciate the time you have taken to respond. Is the market for civil engineers awful? Have I been being fed mis-information at school? What I think I will do now, is do a civil engineering degree, (there is even an amazing one at a a uni in Edinburgh...

    Should I become a Carpenter?

The sentiment is appreciated, and I see where you're coming from, but that bit of the post wasn't particularly important; i'm more interested in the questions :) From what I understand, timber will always be used to frame houses, as it is a cheap material that is not going to run out, so in this...

    Should I become a Carpenter?

Hi, I'm a bit stuck and didn't know where else to turn... I am currently studying A levels in my final year of sixth form, and everyone was expecting me to become a civil engineer; however, I have decided that is not what I want to do. I have decided I would like to become a Carpenter. I have a...

    Viking Turnshoes & Yew Awl

I'm intrigued, have had some roe deer antler lying around for a while, how would you fit it over the handle to use it as an end cap? As in, would you have to hollow it out to the correct size... if that makes sense? :) Thanks for any time given in replying :)

What to make out of suede?

I believe the Native Americans used to make some lovely sheaths and quivers from suede... http://www.spiritofsantafetucson.com/artifact-quiver-arrows-2303.htm If not the sheath itself, suede could definitely be used for the fringe... Happy making!

    First Successful Spoon!

It is a lovely wood, Carved a spatula for my dad the other day, which was nicer in some respects as there was more heartwood on show. But alas, he left before I got the chance to take any half decent snaps :(

    First Successful Spoon!

Thank you so much! Really enjoyed doing it, but won't get a chance to do another for a while... A-levels, yay. :p Made a few knives last year, one very nice i thought, but gave it to someone before i could take any pics :( Again, thanks for the kind words, friend! Chas.
