Improving temp performance of sleeping bag

I've been looking at those as a summer bag. Probably good inside a bivi bag even in the hills?

Improving temp performance of sleeping bag

To answer the OP, yes, I've combined two light sleeping bags and I had a good sleep. Next night I used a goretex bivi bag over them both and it upped the temperature a bit more. The combined bulk of all three items was less than my proper four season sleeping bag.

Excellent jacket but huge on me. I am 6', 44" chest, 42" waist and this would probably fit up to 6' 4", 48" chest +. It's never been waxed and is still as it came from the factory. Zip is perfect as are all press studs. No rips or tears or apparent wear, I want £80 for it posted in the UK. I...

    Bioluminescent fungi

On a very wet exercise in Denmark in 1984 I had to go into a wood to answer the call of nature just as it was getting dark. As my eyes adjusted to the poor light I noticed I was surrounded by luminescent objects on the ground , the more I looked the more I could see. Next morning in daylight I...

Is sleeping without a shelter safe for health?

Several years in my youth as a soldier, sleeping in a hollow, or shell scrape, or under a poncho in the days before gore tex, did me no harm. Once we could get hold of arctic sleeping bag covers (pu coated nylon) that was a game changer, and when MVP (gore tex) bivi bags came in it was a...

    snakebite question

I spent six months in Belize , a lot of the time out in the jungle. Snakes were present but were not really an issue, if you saw one it was usually departing fast. I saw a few fer de lance and several other unidentified species. Never heard of anyone getting bitten while I was there, and there...

    Will this work in practice?

I can imagine what a strong side wind would do to this device! And as for soldiers being issued them, a night time bug - out, or withdrawal in contact, would be a huge cluster - ****. How about stowage on a vehicle? It would be interesting to see that. It looks a good concept but...

    chafing pants and underwear

I use some cream I made from shea butter, olive oil, and some other stuff, (I'll find the recipe and maybe post it here.) I rub into the affected area, also on my feet before a good walk. It stops chaffing and it's odourless, and it does not stain clothes either. Otherwise I wear Paramo...
