The only problem with using rings on zips was the danger of getting them hooked up on something. I used to use them until I was putting a radio mast away one day and got hooked up on one of the thumbscrews. Nearly ended up as one of the fixtures and fittings !
I have myself been scared whitless many times, usually when its dark or I'm tired. The mind is a great trickster when it has nothing to occupy it.
However one time does stick in my cloudy memory and that was in the early eightys around the time of the Falklands war. I had been walking out on...
I was looking at drizone, Sennybridge was indeed a nice place. If I only took away one thing from the week then it was the knowledge that hills that look not so bad on a map with "not so bad" contour lines often are the total opposite. Having said that my map reading is a lot better than some...
My problem is that I'm in the TA, last month we went to Sennybridge in Brecon for a week and the only way to describe it is "WET"
Although I removed my boots whilst asleep they never got the chance to dry out
I have considered taking a copy of the "Scum" with me to stuff in them but these...
I've seen some boot dryers advertised on various websites, they are the kind you stick in your boots like socks, not the ones that plug into the wall and heat your boots up.
Anyway, has anyone used these sorts of boot dryers and are they any good ?
Having spent a week in Wales last month on nothing but Menu A or B I can verify that there are better things than corn beef gash or chicken pasta solid for 7 days. I used tobasco sauce like it was going out of fashion. They reckon that a 24 hour rat pack has all the carbs and chemicals needed...
I'd take meths myself, greeheat gel is great in theory but in practice you will still be hungry and cold waiting for scoff and a brew when everyone else has finished cooknig theirs !
I have one of the alpkit head torches and its ok for under a fiver, I have managed to break part of the harness, the loop on the baseplate that the top harness strap goes through but htats not a huge problem as the torch itself is light weight. I have used it considerably throughout the winter...

Newtons right hand rule for motors I believe
The same applies for the left hand rule for generators
Thinking about it, in may be Faradays r+l hand rule
Well I thought it was okay as entertainment but as instruction it fell flat on its face, did enjoy where the igloo ( more of an "ig" really ) fell down as he built it
I think I saw one on Salisbury plain this august, something was walking along a ridge and at first glance I thought "big cat"
However I could well have been completely wrong as 5 minutes later a family came along the same ridge walking the family dog which looked like a spaniel , not at all...
