willow is one of the few woods that does not make a good bow. but if you want to makes ome arrows out of it, willow is great for that.

i have a 19" wetterlings similar to the SFA an i cant recall taking it out more then once or twice. i find it too bulky and oddly shaped and its just downright awkward to use. for me its a tramontina bolo machete 99% of the time, or a 21" bahco bowsaw if i plan on harvesting some bow/spoon wood.

yea youll definitely want to coat it. beeswax works but it could be a pain melting it and getting good coverage everywhere. i dont know if they have it in britain but ive used minwax polyeurethane, theres many different colors you can choose from to stain it or you can just use a clear coat...

there were some deer tracks going the other direction but the hoove marks werent but half as long as this here track. like you said it might be some weird overlapping effect trying to trick me. this is fun studying tracks i never did this before.

it was almost at the bottom of a hill in a wooded area, pine mixed with hardwoods. theres a marsh and creek about 50meters away. the track was left in a ravine that flows into the creek. i saw soem big tom turkies nearby but i think their toes are more spread out arnt they?

i dont think its poison ivy or oak but it looks similar.
