Looking for a watch but have never got on with with wrist watches. I want analogue rather than digital and needs to be indestructible. Any suggestions?

Timex Expedition - I'm on my 2nd one now, but 20 years is pretty good for a cheap watch 
Get one with the indiglow face and you press a button and the whole front lights up - perfect when out in the dark.

Probably £100 give or take budget, I just find actually wearing a watch a strange sensation as it has to come off for work.
Besides the time, what other things might you want the watch to do?
Time zones, alarms, counters, stopwatch, etc.? Timex has a great range of functions in many styles.
Trouble is, if you want these things in analogue, the prices can be sky-high, like the Rolex Master Mariner.

One of the analogue Casio G-Shocks that run on solar power may be a good try. Should last for a good while.
I've got a very well made chinese copy of a Luminox tactical watch. Its super heavy duty (metal case/frame), uses a swiss movement (so I'm told) and has tritium vials on the hands and hour points so that reading it in the dark is supremely easy. I swapped it over to a nato band out of personal preference. I've had it for a couple of years now with no dramas. £98 (but you might be able to find a little cheaper on ebay)

I know skinny wrists can be a big pain when it comes to gents watches so I went old-school some years ago and use a pocket watch. Tells the time, finds north, hypnotises rabbits and is reasonably robust. My two are battery/quartz and get about 3 years per battery but there are some spring powered wind-up ones still being made.

I really like the idea of a half hunter but prob not practical. The G shocks are on offer at amazon at the mo so worth a look.
I've got the Seiko version of the ecodrive watch flashpan bought. It's been reliable for about 4 years now. If you knew my history with watches life expectancy is inversely proportionate to cost and the seiko cost £165 reduced by half apparently (doubt it's a real 50% reduction somehow).
Strap wasn't good though it has lasted ok. The buckle pin didn't go through the strap holes well. I'm not a fan of fabric straps with pin buckles. Might get a leather strap or metal bracelet. Solid watch and now about £80 like the citizen version.
Look at Casio analogue watches. I used to own a tough solar wavereceptor version with a stainless steel case and bracelet. Love the no battery replacement, no adjustment of watch ever for BST/GMT change and it's never wrong because it corrects itself overnight. IIRC if it misses the signal one hour it tries again every hour until it gets it.

I love my Casio G-Shock. It's solar powered and radio controlled so there's no maintenance at all. Mine is digital, however there are many analogue versions.

Topknot made me a watch strap like that for an automatic watch i was using, but bear in mind that an ecodrive watch needs the sun to charge the battery.
I'm looking for a cheap watch myself. Analogue but would consider a dual digital and analogue watch if the digital was discrete. Use is all day night except when sleeping so must suit formal, work (office plus manufacturing on occasion) and leisure/sport/cycling.
My trouble is I can't justify a big spend. I like watches in the £150ish bracket in Argos, hsamuels, watch shop and similar outlets but anything over £79.99 and I feel I'm spending money I shouldn't. The trouble is it's not a buy because I need a watch (old watch failed need a replacement). It's a purchase because.I'm bored of my perfectly good seiko watch. My ancient Casio g shock looks too plasticky and chunky digital divers watch for more formal.
What would you guys do if your watch requirements are more want than need? Just spent way too much on a holiday what with possibly a grand on kit plus the same on the holiday, each!
