I student brought an axe along to a course today. It was a brand new GB Craftsman Axe with a handle I had never seen on a GB axe before.

There was no logo on the handle and it was a very angular handle. Axe head was an MM.

Has anyone any info on this axe just curious?

It's great HB. Like Wayne said it's the perfect weight for me, having used a 2lb'er previously. I'm still getting used to the right-hand grind but it's a dream to use. Plus that haft shape and cut is really quite comfortable.

It's the small carver. A compromise between the large one (that Wille Sundqvist helped design) using the head of a wildlife hatchet. The handle is red beech.

I think that's actually what they call the medium carver. They also do a small carver with the mini head (and the swedish carver is now called the large swedish carver....)

Cheers
