NORTH WALES
Hi all,
I am looking for a pot Belly multi stove wood burner for my garage/out side, I would like one where you can put a kettle on the top and maybe have a grill type attachment that can be swung in and out of it. If any one has one they don't use for sale, or could guide me to se one who sells such things.
Thanks for your kind replies
Cheers

Loads for sale on eBay. Be aware that there are regulations covering this sort of thing when they're being installed in houses etc. The dangers are often overlooked. Try to find a HETAS registered fitter and have a chat with him about it.

Hi GED
Thanks,
Yeah I understand the implications of what you say and yes I agree also. I have installed a multi stove unit in my house for heating the bottom deck of the house and had to go through all the legal eagle stuff, it was a good call to mention that. What I should of emphasised is I mainly want it for outside to replace my chiminea, and in the winter move it in side to the garage with the flue piped put side to burn off my scrap wood Chipping's etc, and heat the place at the same time.
Just had a look at the auction site cheers

We got this one from Homebase about ten or fifteen years ago, IIRC it was about ten or fifteen quid. Very cheap and cheerful Chinese cast iron but it does the job. I think B&Q did them at one time too. It has a cast iron grill the full size of the top for cooking, and three little rests to adjust the grill height by not very much. Not really enough, anyway. The wife tells me you can make smaller fires in it. Every time I light it. :)

Its four legs never seem to all reach the ground at the same time, hence the little blocks of wood. Leaning it to one side very slightly also helps me to predict which way the fat is going to run.

Something like this perhaps:

This is a finished one( obviously not fitted with hotplate):

Some really good ideas there, and not far off what I would like, I have seen a few of the gas bottle type now I like the look of, I was told that the bottles never belong to anyone only the dealer so not sure what to do. Also if other people are thinking of starting to cut and make one out of an old gas bottle then STOP!!
The bottle has to be purged of all gas before comencing work with any spark related tool (cutter, grinder, welder ETC) because if the bottle has not been purged of all remains of gas then it could be fatal.
Cheers all for your repiles

He's absolutely right about the purging! I wouldn't recommend even having a go at this to be honest, far too dangerous for my liking. I leave it to folk who know what they are doing;)

cheers

If you want to use angle grinder on a gas bottle its fairly straightforward. After leaving valve open until it stops hissing, you unscrew the valve mechanism from gas bottle. Then you fill with water, right to the top and screw valve back in. Then lay on side and angle grind to your heart's content. The centrifugal force of spinning disc keeps the water away from motor, but use a RCD/circuit breaker to be on safe side obviously.
