Royal Wedding Dodging

  • Come along to the amazing Summer Moot (21st July - 2nd August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
My in-Laws are down thats bad enough and they have asked to watch it. So im planing to go to spend sometime in the woods away from the tv.

I have not planned anything but I can't imagine I would watch it if only for the sake of my insanity.

I shall be protesting that just because a couple of self-appointed smug gits are getting hitched, I'm obliged to forego a day's fees because I can't work. That's 0.5% of my gross household income lost because of a pair of goons I neither know nor care about.

Oops, on second thoughts I'd better support it, apparently the thought police are pre-emptively arresting people who don't like it: http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2011/apr/19/royal-wedding-police-arrests-crusades?CMP=twt_gu

I meant sanity. It would drive me to insanity watching that crap. I'm not a royalist and I don't think you have to be to be a patriotic Brit neither.

There was an application by a Republican campaing group for a street party not far from that part of town. It got approval earlier in the year but recently got blocked. After some complained about them being republicans. They were only going to have a fun family street party loosely based around converting our political system from a constitutional monarchy to a republic. Is there anything wrong with that?

Anyway if Charlie was King then his heir's wedding is one thing but it isn't the next in line to the throne but the one after that who's getting wed. By the time its his turn we could have had the revolution!! Well I'll be waving the flag in spirit but not for them for the country. The flag isn't theirs its the nation IMHO. They have their own that confused thing with all those mythical creatures on it and lions, etc.

Wedding? What wedding?....

a friend from over the pond asked me about a week ago if i was excited about the big wedding, i genuinely had no idea at all what he was talking about. sometimes it's great not owning a telly!

My other half, who has never been a particular fan of the RF, announced to me the other day that she is having a RW party at our place and has invited a few of her girl friends around.:yikes:

I will be making myself scarce, but not sure yet where.

Some of my friends are doing that. Women only, their other halves are pissing off somewhere or just getting smashed. There was talk of them all dressing up as if they were going too. What's that all about. Daft buggers.

I shall be earning some serious Brownie points from SWMBO - building fitted wardrobes for the spare bedroom. Hopefully I will earn enough to justify a seriously bushy summer! The telly and radio will be OFF! I might put the Sex Pistols' "God Save the Queen" on the stereo though...
