Well, tonight I discovered that I can go from sleep to fully awake in a jiffy, thanks to 'old cat' and her claw of doom. She decided to try and climb up onto the bed using my eye as a aid to getting up... Ouchy.

Whats yours?

i used to have a kitten that would crawl up under the duvet and between my feet in a morning and work his way upwards until he found something warm and furry to lovingly sink all of his claws into. luckily i lived in a flat at the time so when i (equally lovingly and abruptly) threw it through the bedroom door it landed relatively softly on the sofa. i almost felt sorry for the thing on the one occasion that my aim was slightly awry and he bounced off the doorframe quite violently. almost, but not quite.

Quickest I ever woke up was in a fire......the girl friend at the time was a fan of those tea lights . it was alight and too close to a curtain....which caught fire.
Very scary moment but I quickly put it out by grabbing the nearest thing which was a duvet and smothered it.
Was a close shave for me.

Unfortunatley yesterday my physics class discovered my stealth kipping (I can sleep very well elbow on desk, hand uder chin.)

Tutor no longer complains of mobile phones rining in class...Not if they are next to my ear.

LOL, I used to have a Physics pupil who nodded off every lesson (not because it was boring:nono:, he had a bar job and was up until stupid O'clock every night).

I had the lab tech rig an air horn to a coil of bell wire, with the bell push on my desk. We would let him start snoring then push the button...always made him leave the seat and made my day brighter:rolleyes:

His Mum actually complained in writing that we were disadvantaging her son by expecting him to be in school by 9am! What chance will he have in the "real world" of work?

I found the DS armed with Flashbangs and screaming at the top of their sweet ( yet colourful ) voices sort of worked.

Crash Moves..Love them.

Small cat chewing on your nose first thing in the morning not only wakes you up, but you get a nose full of cat breath and your eyes water ;)
before that she's use my leg as a ladder to get on the bed, jump then sink claws in to get up.

the fastest i've ever woken up though is when hearing one of the lads fall out of bed! my eldest used to do this all the time as he rolls around in his sleep and tangles himself in the quilt.
he now sleeps in one of those cabin beds thats about 5' off the floor. it has a fence all round it though so he's not falling out any time soon.

ooh remembered another, falling asleep on the train home, i'm in one of the side seats near the front nodding off. the train applies brakes and i clock my head on one of those steel poles you grab onto. right on the end of it.
that certainly woke me up.

The quickest for me was when we felt the Earthquake hit us in Feb 08, It was 40 odd miles away in Market Rasen, but something i never want to experience again.
Very Frightening:yikes:

Yup that was a good one, I was half sleep walking around the bedroom trying to hold up the wardrobes and pressing the alarm buttons to try and make the rumbling go away. Very weird.

Probably shouldn't say this but I know of a couple of life guards who worked at a swimming pool a few years ago now, when they were sat up in the high seat monitoring the pool they'd always be nodding off and micro napping. They eventually learned that if they held onto a bunch of keys between their knees, as soon as they fell asleep they would relax and they'd drop the keys, thus waking them up. Brilliant, unless you're a kid in distress in the deep end.
