I finished carving my first spoon today, it looks rough but its a start. I'm not sure what to do now though, should it be left in oil for a while or cooked in oil? Thanks.

just feed it with oil I think. A light covering every day of edible oil will help. That's what I do.
Thanks, how long do I keep oiling it for? I had dunked it in a mug of vegetable oil earlier but I've put it on the drainer now.

It's as rough as toast! I'll post a pic once I've finished oiling it.

There we go! Made from some pine I had left over in the shed from building a fence, carved with a Mora Clipper and SAK. It'll do for me.
Just made a couple of spoons. I'm experimenting at the moment. I've put them in a sandwich bags pour in some oil and popped in the microwave for 30 seconds. The hot becomes thinner and should soak deeper and quicker into the wood.
