Anybody take a guitar into the bush with them?
i love the woods but the thought of being without a guitar nearby tbh is just a bit freaky. it'd be like lopping off an arm before i go.

if you do what kind do you take and how do you carry it?

Bon Jovi reference? Blimey, I thought it was only me who still listened to 80's / 90's rock :headbang:

I travelled for 6 months busking / playing pup gigs to earn a crust a while back. Great feeling to play top whack in the woods, most of our set list was composed round a fire.

Great looks you get from people who happen to pass by as well :lmao:

Nothing so annoying as somebody trying to ruin the atmosphere by playing some gawd-aweful piece on a guitar. And goddamn if he tries to sing some banalities too. Jeez, if somebody in my group even thought of bringing a guitar, he would, no doubt, be left behind, or even worse, be physically hurt.

Music is nice, it has its places and functions, but please don't ruin the time in the woods.

I promised years ago to buy myself a half decent guitar to practice on, so a year ago I bought a Takamini G series semi accoustic. To my absolute shame  after months of frustration and refusal to pay £70 a lesson I can only knock out the intro's to 3 or 4 songs and do another 3 or 4 fully but badly. I wouldn't dream of exposing anyone else to it until I get a thousand times better! But you know, there's plenty bothies I've been to where guitars and whistles and moothies have been produced and it really can be haunting listening to it under a big sky at night at the bothy door.

I have certainly thought about it.
But two things have stopped me - firstly, it's quite big and I'm carrying enough stuff as it is; secondly, I don't want it to get broken or damaged. I suppose there's a thirdly - we tend to 'wild camp', so don't want to draw attention by playing a guitar.
For that reason, I have often thought about getting a ukelele. Only £20, and nice and small!
Right, I'm off to spend the afternoon playing Deep Purple songs on an acoustic and watch Battlestar Galatica...

I will admit to listening to bon jovi. and I was born in 92, so there's no way I started listening to them in the 80's/early 90's

unfortueneatley the only insturment I play is the trumpet. I'm not lugging one of those into the bush. although I have been tempted on some scout camps...... revalie anyone?

So you'd be in Red's camp then... I seem to recall he didn't like campfire singing either. :D

I can take it or leave it, but it certainly doesn't upset me.

i have played guitar since i was a kid on and off, im nowhere near proffesional but i can knock out a few tunes. however i would never be bothered to lug a guitar about, besides the weight they are pretty awkward too. I do take a flute with me when im out walking in the woods or camping but i don't play it too often, its just nice to have it if i want to play :)

I absolutely hate it. If other people wish to participate, well it comes under the "consenting adults" heading. Whatever floats your boat but I don't wish to observe:yuck:

I simply cannot comprehend why people can't enoy the owls calling, deer barking and wind sighing in the trees. Some talantless nerk thrashing out ava nagila or worse yet doing something "authentic" with a hand clamped to their ear and caterwauling in a fake Devon or Oirish accent utterly ruins the joy of being out in natural suroundings for me.

Absolutely understand some people enjoy inflicting this on others, but its another reason to pick your camp company carefully as Big Swede observed so pithily

I love playing but wouldn't take it out with me - way too big and treasured. I normally content myself with air guitar until my daughter gets embarrased in front of all the wildlife!

:beerchug:

I'll give anybody with a guitar in the woods ONE warningshot, the next one goes thru the neck of the guitar.
