Today I've had a day of 'comedic' proportions

.
I've finally, after waiting an extra 6 months, had an operation that I was told would be done in 'two or three months'.
I turned up at the hospital just before the scheduled time - 07.30.
At the original pre-op I would be out by early afternoon.
At the original pre-op I was informed that, due to an on going medical condition, I would have to have a Local Anasthetic. Under no circumstances would I be able to have the usual General Anasthetic that the proceeedure would be done under as it would be considered to high a risk.
Because I was going to have a Local I didn't take the gizmo that makes me breathe whilst I'm sleeping (or other wise unconscious) to the hospital with me.
At todays pre-op I was told that it was unsafe to do the op under a Local Anasthetic, I'd have to have a General Anasthetic

.
I was sent home to get the gizmo as they wouldn't do the op without it as a safety net.
I ended up having a Regional Anasthetic.
The Regional Anasthetic was, for me, an epidural!
Putting the epidural in caused me to have a minor epileptic seizure.
When the op had been done I was left to sort out the 'safety net/life saving' gizmo for myself. Because of the epidural I might as well have had no legs; I couldn't get to the socket to plug it in - I left it in its bag and no staff batted an eye-lid.
I eventually left the hospital at 8 P.M. Early afternoon my bum!
The worst bit?
The surgeon (whom I'd not previously met), during our pre-op natter, asked to see the 'offending' area. He looked a bit surprised when I presented my right ankle - at this point I should have sussed that it was going to be one of 'Those' days. For some reason the surgury I was in for 'Wide Excision - ankle' had become 'Wide Excision - Rectum'
