They are fitted with penknives with 2-and-a-half inch blades which are attached to chains sewn into the lining.

So thats a legal knife to carry in the uk without reasonable explanation?

the Criminal Justice Act (1988) says that you may carry a knife with a blade length of 3.0" or less so long as it is capable of folding

May have changed since 1988 but I can't be bothered to get my new CJA as its packed away for Uni hehe.

the article is wrong (I think) as it says it is illegal sell knives to under-18s. I though that was only fixed bladed knives, a 16 year old can buy a folding knife, or am I out of date:confused:

i was just about to post about this.i have heard this all day on the raido ,i can maybe understand that selling the jacket with the knife attached would encourage some people to carry them maybe.but to withdraw the full lot of them ,is a bit o t t .surely they could have separated them and gave the knife to the buyer on payment even as a freebie any body of that same age could go over to the kitchen department and buy some scary size knifes ,i don,t think any ned would or could afford a strellson just to get a penknife ,dosent make sense to me ! maybe i,m a bit scunnert cause i would have bought one of these for sure, these are top notch jackets lined with swiss army blanket and would have been an absolute bargain for £50

QUOTE "Daily Mail"

Steve Gale was shocked to find a knife sewn into this jacket from TK Maxx

UNQUOTE

Yep, he was that shocked that he still bought the jacket:rolleyes:

Looks like a nice jacket. I somehow couldn't see a chav buying one for fifty quid so that he could kill someone with the small folding knife though. His mum's kitchen knife is free and better suited to the task.

It must just be me, but the first thing that went through my brain cell when I heard about this was "I wonder if the knifes any good"

They now had to withdraw sword sticks. Never thought these would still available from anywhere.

That reminded me my grand father had a couple of these, as well as a gun stick, a single shot, you could unscrew the handle top part, insert the cartridge, a smaller version of a shotgun cartridge, and screw it back on. The trigger was hidden under a ring near the top of the stick. Both the swords were a good couple of feet long, easy to remove from the stick handle, and if memory serves right, both the blades were round in section. He would have carried these between the wars. Different times, different attitudes I guess.

I hope splashing that in the news headlines does not give the criminal fraternity ideas....:( Or the police reasons to be even more paranoid...

What do you expect when you have a press controlled by a small group of people who echo the prevailing threat of the day from your puppet government?

Fake terror is getting long in the tooth, so then they brought you fake knife crime. Now we have a fake bailout of the fake economy and no body is any the wiser.

jojo i believe those sword sticks are worth a fortune as antiques if you still have one ;) Pretty scary things especially the one that can take a bullet :o
Anything that conceals a blade or something that does not immediately look like a knife and then low and behold a blade pops out is illegal no matter what the size, classed as a concealed weapon.
Someone years ago gave me a little "Mr burns" figure from the simpsons which was bought from a pound shop, the head screwed off to reveal a serrated blade lol Imagine what the papers would make of that now  ill try and find it and post a pic.

I used to know an elderly gentleman who used to use two walking sticks all the time. One was a .410 shotgun and the other a sword stick. Wonder if it's the same person, can't be that many :)

I wish, Dwardo! I was too young then to think about these things! Girls were more interesting! Mind you, My aunts still live in the same flat in Paris, probably still have them there, I haven't seen the old co*s  girls in years, perhaps a visit would be in order...:D

You never know, do you, maybe he is the same  He was a colonel during the 2nd World War, married to a Polish lady... Does that ring a bell..? ;)

the funny thing is one of my friends daughters came up to me last night and asked me if I had bought one of those jackets because I collect knives

Don't know what he did in the war but the person I knew was a lord lieutentant of a nameless county and drove a Nissan proclaiming it to be the best car in the world. A great man but ever so slightly mad :)
