Hi all

Not bushcraft but I am as some of you may remember very much into green energy, Not being happy spending a couple of grand on a propper system I desined and built for my last test a wind turbine of my own.

It is a very simple system ( now all the math and debugging is done ) that can recharge batts for electrical use if you have farmland or just want to produce some for yourself.

If anyone is interested I will post pics of it and when complete all pm`ed requests will recieve the plans when completed.

My design is for a 1.2Kw turbine good enough to recharge a bank of around 8 batts.

Let me know

Cheers

Don

A friend and i were going to put one up, but we got floored by "planning permission"

Apparently they`ve scrubbed the planning permission for these north of the border, don`t see why they won`t do the same down here, it`s free green energy afterall.

Great work Don I`m also interested, have you looked into the H&S / planning implications etc for it yet ??

Well I have tried to contact my local mp`s and chats with my local council seem to have me running from desk to desk as they dont know and say that they have never been asked the question???

It seems strange that something we could all do to help the environment is taboo, I gave up and just went ahead, took a long time making different blades to make them silent and if the wind was that bad, who the hell could hear them anyway with the noise of the wind and trees?

How about this then for a wind power then!! Taken by me on the Horns Rev wind farm in the North Sea,
The largest offshore wind farm in the world.

No i didnt have you got a link to it please

I mentioned it in this thread http://www.bushcraftuk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25596&highlight=hydraulic
post 25 is the description of its workings. I made it from bits salvaged from a skip where I once worked and a few bits of homemade to lash it all together. In case you don't read the entire thread, it only works after prolonged and heavy rain, though I can't yet get it to "self-initiate". Even during the rains of early summer, there wasn't enough to have the stream running all the time, hence I harvest what I can after letting it run for a few days to wash off any nastiness. I have rainwater storage of nearly 6 tonnes which I use for watering animals (pony/chickens/dog/cats). In dire emergencies I can weep it into our well chamber (we ran dry in Aug 06 for about 6 weeks) just enough to keep the essentials wet. I can also plumb a feed direct from water butt to washing machine if ever I feel the need - but if we're that far gone I can think of many more uses than washing clothes.
