Alright guys,
Is there any easy way to sharpening a crook knife or do you just throw it away when its blunt,I have bought two so far and one seems to be holding its edge the other one I tried to sharpen and I seemed to get it even more blunt than when I started.
Rgds Davy.

You could try a broom handle with sand paper on it i've heard that is a good way of sharpening.

You can't resharpen them so I would just pitch it. If you send it to me, though, I can recycle it. :)

Don't send it to Hoodoo - he doesn't really like knives :D

What Soar said - better yet something a bit wider - inch and a half placcy pipe is good (or whatever size just fits the inside of your knife). Wrap in 240 grit wet and dry and sharpen in line with the bevel. Then 400 then 600.

Works well

would that work on a frost/Sloyd Double Edge Knife, (I'm left handed and they didn't have any left hand knives at Axminster)

Indeed it would Tadpole,
Just go steady as your fingers get very close to the other edge when you're doing it - some good gloves might come in handy.

I sharpen mine with wet'n'dry wrapped around a suitably sized piece of hazel stick if I don't have my DMT Cone hone to hand. Stropping is simply a matter of wrapping a piece of leather around the same stick (I tend to use the other end of the stick, where it's thinner, to compensate for the leather being thicker than the wet'n'dry) Simple, cheap, and effective.
