I would define it as camping if you buy the stove for camping, is that wrong?

Or to put it another way how many campers with a camping stove would consider themselves preppers?

I tend to find people use the name prepper as a bit of an insult or a dismissive term, a bit like when we first started growing our fruit and very people would call us Tom & Barbara or mention the Good Life.
I would agree, if you are a veteran camper it is likely you have accrued enough stuff to get you through a few difficult situations, I keep a canister gas stove in the car and small Kelly kettle, that is not prepping, they just live there.

Knew I'd read this somewhere....

There's also some online pages. We chatted to someone who investigates when planes go too low and that was an interesting conversation. We're sure our house was used as target and the military transport plane got it a bit wrong and was under 250' by mistake...

We often get low flight training around us and over the sea near us. I also assume some are test flights?

I know I was working in Perthshire, and the pilot of jaguar passed less than a hundred feet from us...horizontally that was...vertically the blighter couldn't have been more than 50' up. He waved ...in all of the split second we saw him I mean. The noise was the biggest shock I think.

RAF is somewhat renowned for low flying.

Yes, I remember a day on the M6, just south of Tebay, going down into the valley.

"Theres a wee plane flying below the peaks"

it turned out to be a Hercules.

But that doesnt mean other people should be allowed to do this.

But while the Americans may think 800' is low flying, honestly, by our standards that's pretty lofty really.

Just had two mahoosive military planes fly over my home, probably less than a hundred feet up. This has never happened before like that. We sometimes get the odd nimrod or helicopters fly over fairly low, but this was incrediblely low.
Such a roar, and the house trembled and rattled. Chandelier started swinging, (it's only a small one mind) I thought it was an earthquake, and ran out of the house in sock clad feet..no shoes, just in case. My gosh it gave me a turn and a half!
The planes were massive, no idea what they were apart from obviously being military ones.
Things are definatly ramping up. They were flying west to east. Definitely "under the radar" American bombers sneaking into the UK perhaps? I know the shape of most British military planes. These are new to me.
Sadly I was in a bit of a tizz, thinking it was an earthquake, (it realy felt like a big one),so didn't get a clear view.
So, I'll make a cuppa, keep calm and carry on.
Phew!
In the last few days... while driving to the shops... i've seen on 2 separate occaisions... a white van, being escorted by 4 police cars.. Marked cars, BMW estates... They pushed through red lights, yet drove within the speed limit. Not seen that round here before either. Reminded me of disaster movies where important folk get picked up and taken to the safe place... Not saying that's what it was, just that its the first time i've seen it in this country.

Hmm, interesting!
Just googled white van escorted by police and there is an article about this happening over the last few days in Hull and Cottingham "on a high security training exercise "
So that could be what you saw if you are near that area.
But, who knows the real reason. They'd never tell us anyway.

We're 60+ miles to both. They are both east coast... we are quite literally central (going east/west). Over an hours drive to see the sea.. in any direction.

There are two likely possibilities:

1. It was flying a routine training mission as has been suggested here already.
2. They're worried that a sleeper cell in the UK might try and take a potshot at them so they're coming in low and approaching from different directions to make it a harder target.

I wonder if its transponder was switched on at the time when it flew over your house? You can check on this flight tracker website here by using the 'Playback' function to rewind time back to when it happened. If its transponder was switched on then the plane will appear visible on the flight tracker which means it was almost certainly option 1. But if the transponder was switched off the plane will not appear on the flight tracker which means there's a possibility that it might have been option 2.

Could still be what you saw, I doubt they'd only spent 30 mins of travel on such an exercise. Where were they coming from or going to? We don't know.
What gets me is the way it draws attention to a high security operation. Defies logic. There are so many white vans on the road, another on its own wouldn't garner attention. Escorted with plain clothes cars rather than painted dayglow cars, and nobody would look twice.
Seems rather showy for a high security operation as it alerts every Tom Dick and Harry there is something going on.
It's to show us that they have things under control.... or am I just stupid? C theory coming up!!!!!
I wouldn't worry about it myself, it's a showpiece operation. Fun to watch tho.

It’s preparedness a state of mind? Probably, but then so is healthy scepticism.

I loved this, received from a friend in Los Angeles.

Self evidently it could still happen, but in the meantime this is healthy.

Maybe all those ufo/drone sightings there last year, were a dry run, and as nothing happened it's the cry wolf scenario.

Trust nothing they say and meanwhile look after you and yours. Live your best life, and be kind to those less able or fortunate than yourself. Live life as you would want to be treated, but still keep your head on a swivel.

Thursday when I was in b&m, there was a foreign looking bloke..you know the sort. He locked onto my eyes and grinned.. I am well over 60, and he was in his twenties. I nodded back, as I don't want to be rude, or interact any more than politely, and went on my way. Started to notice him following me around the ailes. So I stopped at the baby Isle, picked up some wet wipes, he, was there too...Well he's young enough to have kids, but noticed he had no trolly, and didn't pick anything up, then I went to the women's hair and beauty isle, he was there too, looking at nail stuff. He kept looking at me, and was definatly keeping an eye on me.
Hmm, spidy senses picked up even more.
So I moved over to where my friend Ray was and without saying anything about my suspicions, stayed by him, chatting normaly. The chap disappeared at that point after giving me a rather cross glance. I reckon he was after my handbag and /or purse. Which was in my inside coat pocket, along with my phone, so it would have not served him had he been after bag anyway. I just keep tissues, sweets and junk in the hand bag.
He left me alone after that.

Sussed!
