Dyeing a pack

Can you make the green they have darker? I was s**t at art so I don't even know what colours to mix together to make alternatives!

I might try the chocolate brown.
In the video I posted he definitely mixed the colours a little.
TBH - I'm ok with it if the MTP comes out as a varying shade of 'Greens' - if not a solid block of one colour. I just dislike the bright trashy look of the MTP.

I recently tried to dye some things brown.
Was put off because the dye - Rit for cotton IIRC - made some of the gear wnd up with a purple tinge, tried with different materials, cotton, denim, polycotton. I am not a fan of this purple hue so stopped.
Was not a back pack but be interesting to see how that as I’d like to do similar.
Some wool gear worked quite well with tea, gave nice light brown.

I tried to dye some wool black last year and it turned out a really nice dark brown. Beautifully even and stable but not the colour I needed.

Yeah, wool blankets take a lot of dye, hence the experiment with tea bags, otherwise costs more than did the blanket itself.
Also tried dying black with what’s basically rusty water - load up a water container with various metal things that’ll rust and you get this murky, and foul, black liquid. Steep the item in this for a long time, even weeks. It was sort of successful, but very patchy, think my technique could’ve been better, maybe could’ve mixed it more.

That's very useful :)

Thanks!

Interestingly, using the synthetic dyes, to get 'moss green', you need 1 Cup Peacock Green 1/4 Cup Chocolate Brown 2 Tbs Graphite :)

You forgot:-

So I dyed the pack the other day -;one full bottle of Dark green has pushed it into Jungle green territory. IMG_20251006_173734968_HDR.jpgIMG_20251023_162439413_HDR.jpg

Interesting to see what has and what hasn't picked up the colour change - The Mesh clearly hasn't which I found interesting. The Snow Baffle ( not shown ) has changed to Green , the buckles have not.

This for me is an improvement over the MTP , which looks lighter and more garish than in the 1st photo.

However - Mr Bezos has delivered a Rit Dye Tan/Bronce and I've already got the kettle on brewing up some Hot water - So I'm going to redye over the top of this Lurid Green with a 1/4 of a bottle and see what comes out.

I will keep you posted
