Hi,
Does anyone know of a folder/multitool that just has a knife blade and a saw? I already own a few Leathermans/Victorinox with several tools on them but I was after a light option with just those two, if possible.

This is the best I’ve found so far…

Any other options out there?

Cheers in advance.

I’m working on making an Opinel#12 fitted with the #12 pull saw and the #12 knife blade but it won’t be light and it won’t be street legal - but OK for a camp on private ground.

I totally agree it’s the ideal combination if you use an open fire or a stick stove.

It’s really surprising that there are so few options out there. Anyone who’s been in and around bushcrafting/survival/camping tools for any amount of time would assume this kind of thing would be the baseline multitool for outdoor use.

Joker make a nice one. Not budget level but nicely made.

Cheers mate. So far I still like the Schrade saw the most but the Joker and the Mercury use better blade steel.

I think because of the compromise. If those are the tools required then a folding saw and separate knife are a far more practical and usable combination.

It’s ok on any campsite, your modification. There seems to be this confusion about getting knives to and fro, or using them publicly that is wrong. If the job in hand calls for a locking knife then that’s fine.

I’d tend not to wander into town to stock up on supplies with it in my pocket, but many years as a tree surgeon working in public parks and using a folding Silky and Benchmade Griptilian as daily carry is just tools for the job the same as a Stanley knife is for an electrician.

This has quite a few tools, on this occasion I’m after just the knife/saw combo. Cheers though.
I wouldn’t agree with ‘quite a few tools’. The saw has a multi-tool tip on it, and there’s an awl and corkscrew - that’s it. They don’t affect the thickness of the GAK, which is two-layer. It’s also the largest UK Legal knife Victorinox ever made (true of the 108mm series), and the saw is widely regarded as the best that they have ever put on a Swiss Army knife.

Not trying to persuade you! But for people looking for a great knife and saw combo in a pocket, it’s difficult to beat the original GAK. The downside is it’s not been made for 20 years, so good ones are becoming more difficult to find.

Yeah, that’s a fair point, but it’d also apply to any and every option on a multitool. A good pair of pliers is always stronger than a Leatherman, but people like the latter because it gets you out of trouble most of the time and comes with extra tools.

I’ll keep an eye out for one, thanks.
