Thanks for that. The Skilhunt H03C RC looks perfect and a good price to boot. Just need to find a UK supplier and for that price I will take a punt.

Can you post a link if you find a supplier please Dwardo.

TIA

Also one must remember -when talking about power- that the human eye is just not very sensitive in red. To get the the white equivalent effect in red the actual power needs to be manyfold which means that much more amps from the battery.

The Biolite series of head lamps come with red/white LEDs but you can prioritise to red on first. Micro USB rechargeable and a split unit with flat battery pack at the rear and the light unit at the front for balance. Very flat design.

My only criticism is the small on switch. I think they do different outputs dependent on your needs.

Skilhunt used to have a store on Amazon UK, but seem to have shut it down. Seems the only one they still maintain is US. Not aware of another UK supplier.

Will take a look thanks. Not a fan of the pack on the back but they certainly do need more research. Seems like the native rechargeable requirement is making the search difficult. May end up with a separate pack like the one petzel do, even if it does just ramp the cost further.

Same conclusion this end. Amazon states side with a delivery of a few weeks or so. Less chances of issue with customs so may go that way.

Blame all the 2,000 milers who complete the AT with one lol

Distancing your self from it already! ;)

600ma USB rechargable battery, light weight, two separate buttons for red/white, button lock, decent lumen red, battery level indicator and can even charge whilst running so top up when being used as a lantern etc. Perfect ta.

Another one here who's not blown away by red light in amongst greenery.
The leaves absorb a huge amount of the red light and you have a bright light that you still need to be brighter.

I have a few but the UCO one I have is very good, in fact it’s been a “ life saver” as I have a new puppy and for the past few months have had to get up at all out of the night and this head torch has been perfect , rechargeable adjustable and red light to hunt around looking for stuff , well worth a look.

I like the petzl e-lite and have one that is several years old.

Red light is far too overrated imo. It doesn't preserve night vision, is poor for actually seeing anything in the dark, and wont show up contour lines on a map at all in the pitch black.
