Now, I have been reviewing my food stash...I have plenty!

But, -worst case scanario; what if I do get sick?

What will I need? Plenty of soups?
 
I don't know how this compares but when I caught swine-flue I didn't want to eat anything for 3 days and struggled for a couple of days after. Lots of warm drinks and paracetamol was my only consumption. Based on the reports it appears the worst s over after 5 days as long as you don't get complications.

I thoght about getting a product like Complan but its not cheap...and to be frank, not nice to eat.
 
I am Ill right now. It’s not diagnosed as c-19 but likely. My tip is keep it simple for food. I have a lack of energy to achieve anything. At the start, my tastebuds went weird so I didn’t like complex foods. . Plenty of water. Very dry mouth.

Sorry to hear that Stew; hope you're feeling better soon! On the bright side, you will be the fountain of all knowledge of the experience :)

Nothing sugary for me, Alison, I have Diabetes. (And sweet stuff is not nice either.)
 
Paracetamol and or over the counter flu meds will be of more use than food.
Warm drinks such as herb teas and a dose of vitamin c will help. I get cheap vitamin c tablets from the local chemists at 99p a pot. Zinc also same price is supposed to boost the immune system too.
I've been taking these and vitamin d and garlic oil capsules since early Feb to try building immunity tho I suspect that it's pretty pointless. Isolation is the only way to prevent catching it and that you have to do early on.
Monday will be starting week 3 for me.
I'm getting used to it and am able to potter round my garden and go for walks late at night when nobody is around. Coping well so far.
Cabin fever will become more of a problem when the weather gets much warmer and I wish to get out more as I get itchy feet as soon as the garlic is in flower and the bluebells are out. May have to curb that this year a bit. Depends how bad things get.
 
Make up a "dream list" of cravings and treats. Mine includes a great variety of fresh fruit.
Bag of top quality raisins. Best candy? Bag of little American Tootsie Rolls.
If I were in the city, look for Longans, Lichee, mangoes that aren't rotten, papaya, prickly pears, jicima.

To get what I wanted, I had to learn to make and bake pies, breads and other baked treats.
In fits of energy, I've done that to freeze a lot of it for later when I've run out of gas.
Make certain that you have the supplies to make comfort foods.
 
All food is comfort food to me.

Im putting together a stash of paracetamol and tinned soup.

Cough medicine might be a good thing to get seeing as so many have a cough

Put cost aside for this one. The nutritional sporty milkshakes in the chilled section of supermarkets are expensive, but way better than Complan to drink,, the lower protein ones, most of them low/no sugar. You could pour them into oatmeal and fruit, even ReadyBrek. Lack of energy and weird tastebuds like Stew said, and disinterested, out of sorts, and maybe unable to prepare much of a meal, so get stuff to tip down your neck easily. Canned soups are good, but despite me always believing I’ll eat the tins of fish and soup I keep in stock for coughs and colds, I can’t face them when ill. Chunky Chicken on toast, thats a good one, I like that. White buttered toast and lots of black pepper. :)

Fizzy multivitamin tablets to drop in water too. Lots of water.

Lots of prepared food is terrible to eat. Looks attractive at the expense of nutritional value.
It's exactly the same over here. Same crap, different package.

Learn to cook food that you really like. There's huge resources at your fingertips on the internet.
Search for any recipe that your heart desires and you will find dozens of versions.
Write down 9 of them. #10 is your average = you have your own now.
I got pancakes and waffles that way.
My bread is my own formula. French, ciabatta and baguettes the same = simple.
Apple pie. Flakey crusts are no problem to do.

Even home-made chunky soup for breakfast beats the Hello out of pop-up toaster crap.
You're home anyway. What's another 5 minutes? Scramble a couple of hen-fruits.
I confess that I have really developed a taste for hot soups of any kind for breakfast.
Mostly built from dry stuff and dry mixes, some are enough for 2-3 days.

Make lots. Buy a stack of reuseable plastics to freeze servings.

If you are looking to take on calories when you are sick, mix 1L of water, 1tbspn of salt and 3 tbspn of sugar. It will replace what the fever takes until you get hungry

That's a Diarylate ? recipe to help replace lost fluids due to dehydration through one exit or another including skin.
