Ho ho ho.....might be Christmas time, but it sounds more like pirates to me, and we're awash here again.
The lawn has a resident population of newts, even the squirrel that's joyfully bounding across the garden needs web feet
I'm just in and sat down. I've been soaked to the skin three times so far today. Admittedly I'm wearing a short sleeved blouse, but still. Everytime I go outside to do something I manage to get about half way done, and down comes the rain. It's warm (7˚C) and no wind though. Just annoying when I'm trying to get stuff done.
Sod's law really, isn't it ?
Good to be outdoors in the fresh air though, I need a daily dose of real weather, it's a necessity that lifts my mood, how I feel physically, and it eases the house limited senses back to being able to really see, hear, smell, taste and feel again.

At least it's not ice :) and it's the first day after the longest dark, so, even though I know the coldest part of the year is yet to come, at least the light will slowly come back :D

I hope your Christmas' are suitably merry, and that 2019 is a very good year indeed.

I know how you feel Toddy! It's quite wet here too. Rivers localy are worryingly full and the roads have lakes every few yards. The fields also turning into lakes. We have clay soil so it doesn't drain awfully well and my sloping garden is a muddy ice rink without the ice! Replenishing the bird feeders at the top of the garden can result in a muddy bum..... as I found out last night. Ouch!wish someone had a camera it was quite a slide:D:D:D

Weirdly enough, we have quite a but of rain here too. Should be dry now.
A few degrees warmer than you gals have though.

Old wisdom say if it rains after on or the month after Christmas we will not get any Mangoes. ( flowering start in January).

Was the truth last winter!

Remember the drought only a few months ago? Hose pipe ban threats and hill fires. I don't care though, I've been stuck in the office too much for the last month so any excuse to get out while I've got a couple of days off will be welcome. My roof is leaking though so a bit less rain would be helpful right now from that point of view.

Very mild and dry for this mornings walk along the local cliffs. The sea was flat calm as there was little breeze and the chalk cliffs seem to glow in the bright warm sunshine. The Holly King has begun his retreat, I feel..

Warm and wet. The midges or mozzies are out in force. The bugs will be horrendous next year.

Thankfully ours have died off. We have had some really cold nights and that's frozen all but the ones buried in the deep mud.
If you get some real deep cold that might help where you are too.
I know the days have turned, just, but the coldest part really hasn't come yet.

Well we do not get quite the summer swarms you get so I guess thats a blessing, out in the rain at the solstice they where, global warming has alot to answer for. Im planning to come to scotland next year (lorde help you ). When is the best time to come to scotland to avoid the biters ?, its only the males that draw blood isnt it ?ive read that up until june 1st is the best ? I will of vourse be investing in some super strong mozzie rep.

You’re getting mosquitoes and midges mixed up, Scotland is renowned for the tiny biting midges. And it’s the female in both species that needs the blood meal in order to reproduce.
