We converted an old Morris Minor wheel into a forge with an old bike bit and some biscuit tin.
The gear helps the air from underneath distribute without lots of rubbish falling through the hole.
Added some legs
We put a 90' plastic bend at the bottom which as we knew, burst into flames about 20 minutes in. It was only really to have a go. I'll get a 90' metal bend soon.
Done! Now for the fire crane.
Heated up the bar and when red hot held one end with a bit of box section against an upright road pin.
Then bend round the post
Add extra bits to hold kettles and you've got a basic fire crane. Or weld a bit of angle iron on the end and add an oven shelf to make a burger/sausage grill!
We banged in another road pin in front of the supporting one to stop it swinging 360' - now by default it sits on the fire.
If you've not used a fire crane you lift gently up and the bend you've put round the road pin releases its pressure and can slide up or down easily. Best to do with with gloves. Fire was cold here!
Add another road pin and some hooks and have a kitchen stand.
Final pic with grill!
